An Ohio district will offer online summer-school courses this year to help cut costs and offer students greater flexibility in how they earn credits. In some cases, students learn via computer programs and are able to schedule time to meet in person with teachers. For other courses, including languages and lab-based sciences, it can be difficult for a computer to handle the task of grading.
Some Olentangy students will go white-water rafting and ballroom dancing as part of a physical-education class this summer. Others will earn gym credit online.
