A blog post on some of the more low-level details about the v22.1.0 support library release.

#AndroidDev
It’s been a while since my last post so here we are. You may have seen that the 22.1.0 support libraries were released yesterday, which is probably the biggest non-platform release we’ve done with the support library.

April 2015 Material Design Spec Update

Here on the #materialdesign team at Google, we’re always listening to community feedback and looking for ways to broaden and expand the specification to better fit the needs of designers everywhere. Today we’re publishing an update to google.com/design/spec that draws on extensive conversations we’ve had with designers and developers over the past few months. The update includes 7 new sections, as well as refinements to content in existing sections.

Some highlights:

Data tables: guidance on presenting data sets, particularly in desktop products
Units and measurements: a description of the different units used in material design, including guidance on using density-independent pixels (DPs)
App structure: suggestions for top-level navigation in your app
Component sticker sheet for After Effects to help streamline your motion design workflow
Floating action buttons now have their own section, with added guidance on behavior and transitions
• Updated guidance on Typography, Cards, Dialogs, Tabs and Scrolling.

For all the gory details, check out the What’s New section in the spec: goo.gl/3aB3xM

We’re pleased to announce the release of UIAutomator 2.0! This version is a significant update from the previous release. Most importantly, UI Automator is now based on Android Instrumentation and you can build and run tests with the ‘./gradlew connectedCheck’ command.

This release is packaged with the Android Testing Support Library so that we will be able to provide updates more frequently in the future. You can get started with UIAutomator by downloading the latest Android Support Repository through the SDK Manager.

Documentation is available on developers.android.com (http://goo.gl/wJq00a). Happy Testing!

Here we go!

Beta testers, the moment you've all been waiting for has finally arrived.
And it's a Material Design one.

This new beta release is the first step towards Google's new design language. We have revisited the core parts of the app, enhancing the general look and feel and adding some Material Design goodness here and there. You'll notice transitions, Ripple effects, the use of contextual colors, and lots of new cool stuff.

But this release is not just about Material Design, because we have revamped and improved several functionalities of the application. Check this out, because it's a huge changelog:

Brand new FloatingLyrics™
  - A revamped UI, simpler and more beautiful than ever
  - Launch it directly from the notification tray and use the MusicID feature to recognize lyrics while watching YouTube music videos!
  - More quick actions from the menu, such as favorite, search and MusicID
  - Double tap on the header to maximize/minimize the floating window

Improved Add and Resync lyrics features
  - You can finally add new lyrics from inside the app or from FloatingLyrics™: no more redirects to the website! (Edit lyrics will follow soon)
  - The Resync feature is now much faster, thanks to a native implementation

Brand new Search feature
  - A new, smarter search: just type a song title or part of the lyrics, you will get all the results immediately, with a best match on top
  - Search as you type, it will be even faster to look lyrics up
  - Added option to quickly start MusicID to identify lyrics

Various
  - You can now edit more fields using the "Edit song info" feature, such as track number, disc number and year
  - Boatloads of bug fixes and performance improvements

As you can see, this release is BIG. And we need you to make it stable and improve it even further. We're also looking for feedbacks on these new features, so that we can see what you guys like, what could be improved and how. As usual, we hear you ;)

Enjoy the new Musixmatch experience!

Espresso 2.0 is here!

A release is never too late, nor is it too early. It arrives precisely when it’s meant to.” That being said, we would like to apologize for such a long wait. Part of the delay was caused by work that ensures that this does not happen again.

Espresso 2.0 is packed with new features[0], but perhaps the most important change is that Espresso is now part of the Android Support Library and available in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) soon. This will make it easier for you to contribute to future releases.

With this release, we would also like to introduce the new AndroidJUnitRunner[1], which contains all the functionality of GoogleInstrumentationTestRunner and adds extra features[2], including Junit4 support.

Although this is an API-breaking release (hence the major version bump), we do not expect the majority of projects to be affected by anything other than the package name change.

We have added a new set of individual sample projects, available on GitHub[3], to make it easier for you to learn about the new features and get started with Espresso.

Documentation[4,5] and Javadocs[6,7,8] are still hosted on android-test-kit, but will move to d.android.com in early 2015.

We hope that you enjoy the new Espresso experience and look forward to your feedback and contributions.

Happy holidays and happy testing!

Hotel in centro a Bologna, cemera molto spaziosa, bagno pulito e bello. Letto ampio, televisione piatta con Sky. Insomma, offre tutto quello che si puo' desiderare. Colazione molto abbondante, sia internazionale che tipicamente italiana. Staff molto cordiale e gentile. Ottimo hotel, consigliato sicuramente :)
