Wonderful accommodations, beautiful water, sugar sand.... Deplorable LOUD music starting at breakfast, all day long, only to be accompanied by the earth shaking bass thumping of clubs to either side. I asked 3 different people to turn it down. No response. Very kindly say they'll check.... Nothing. I've read review after review of people who say they loved Playa del Carmen but HATE the thumping music. I feel like the DJ's have the power to ignore guest requests, maybe they feel their job will be in jeopardy if they were to comply. I am used to world class accommodations, you don't have this anywhere else at this price point. Resort owners should unite in a no music policy until 7pm - 1am. It will raise the standard of the resort into the world class resort that it should be. I've come a long way to have the lazy feel and sound of the surf, who would EVER think overpowering that beautiful sound we came here for would be preferable to anyone! I like thumping music at night, in the clubs, ONLY. It would be a completely different experience if this were dealt with. All other points are beautifully checked.

An absolutely wonderful place to stay! My wife and I had most of our big wedding group stay at El Taj and the other group of condo hotels (Porto Playa, Villas Sacbe, and Maya Villa). The staff was beyond accommodating, insisting that we spend our time relaxing while they took care of moving our many, many suitcases. The staff was always eager to help in whatever way they could. The concierge service was also very accommodating. The place was perfect for our wedding group because there were many different sized rooms at different prices. The whole place is very clean and well kept. Rooms are large, clean, have washers and dryers, and fully stocked kitchens. Our room also had a HUGE upstairs patio with a grill, mini fridge, sink, tables, lounge chairs, a hot tub, and some great views. The patio made a great spot to entertain our guests for a meet and greet. My only gripe about El Taj is that the parking garage is tiny, especially with my rented minivan. Also if you're handicapped, know that basically all the rooms have at least one set of stairs to get to, and some have stairs inside. Our rooms came with free breakfast included - I highly recommend the Imprevist restaurant down the street. Indigo Beach is also good, but Imprevist is better. The location is great. El Taj in particular is in two parts, Oceanside (which actually is on the beach) and beachfront (which, despite its name, is actually a block from the beach). Both are equally nice with the same decor and feel. It is a short 2-block walk from 5th Avenue, but take my advice and wander a few blocks from 5th avenue when you want to eat - the food is just as good at half the price. All in all a really great experience and will definitely be coming back during our next visit to Playa Del Carmen!

I spent three nights at this beautiful location during a business trip, and it wasn't nearly nearly enough time! Everything about this place was amazing. The rooms were incredible, with a private hot tub on the balcony overlooking the ocean. They were nice enough to make the whole trip worth without even taking the wonders of Playa del Carmen into consideration, but they were there too and just as amazing. Walking down 5th Ave, snorkeling in the crystal clear oceans (my first time!), dining at the many delicious local restaurants. I could go on and on. It's crazy how much fun I had on a business trip, and definitely plan on returning once my son is old enough to enjoy it as much as me.

I spent a weekend with a co-worker at El Taj Beachside Condo Hotel in Playa del Carmen while traveling on business. I was so impressed with the service and amenities that I'm planning a trip back this August with my family - just got back from Passport office actually. The thing that impressed me most was the attention to detail. - One of the beach attendants keeps buckets of sand toys for families with kids. - I noticed repair crews doing touch-up painting on a Sunday. I could go on and on. The beach club is a great amenity, you're right on the beach and blocks from town. El Taj is it's really a wonderful place. If you're traveling as a family and looking for a Playa del Carmen Hotel, it's a wonderful choice. And, if you're there the second week in August we'll see you there!

Perhaps one of the best hotels in Playa. Their private beach, the staff, the location, everything is just fabulous. It's just 2 minutes away from the 5th Avenue for times when you want to enjoy the Playa night life. Can't ask for anything more. Reasonably priced and in an extremely safe neighborhood. There's enough police patrol in case you are worried about security. I personally thought it's absolutely safe. 1 tip to all travelers... when in Playa, try to pay by credit card as much as possible. Our bank gave us the best exchange rate throughout Mexico.

Our family visited El Taj for a week in the beginning of May. The unit that we had was 318, it was beautiful. We had some issues with the lock, but the maintenance guy took care of it. The condo itself you can't ask for more, layout very nice, beds very comfy, jacuzzi on the balcony, just perfect. There is a lot of boats parked in the front, but if you walk two minutes down the beach it's just perfect for swimming. Our kids enjoyed both pools, but the one with a jacuzzi had a wonderful view. Everything is within walking distance, restaurants, clubs, bars, all you need is there, even Mega grocery store is very close. Wonderful place, we would definitely go back.
