I recruit PhD and MD candidates for pharma and biotech companies. Of course the bulk of my candidates are male since they go into science more frequently and also rise higher up the chain. But when I do have female candidates, almost without exception, they do not negotiate the way the male candidates do. And these are smart candidates with advanced degrees. When I do get a female candidate who is a strong negotiator , I cheer inwardly for her and say to myself, " you go girl!"

I sent DNA to ancestry  and  23andme. It still is a pain to try to figure out where all these"cousins" fit into my family tree. And I have very good documented  records going very far back. It is so time consuming I hardly ever even try now. Many people write me to say we are related. I just can't get back to them as it is too much work comparing our trees. There needs to be a better way. I read that soon the we will be able to tell, thru DNA, what villages people originated from in England. It is this kind of new research that will make it easier to pinpoint who that 4th cousin is.
CTO Scott Sorensen has a challenging job: Helping Ancestry.com expand and enhance its vast database of family information, while keeping that data secure.

Even as they try to help the bees, people may inadvertently poison them by planting pesticide-laden plants purchased from big-box garden centers, suggests a new report. More than half of ostensibly bee-friendly plants sampled at Home Depot, Lowe's and Walmart garden centers contained high levels of neonicotinoids, which are considered highly toxic to bees, butterflies and other insect pollinators.

Thank you Google for saying Happy Birthday to me today when I opened my browser. Kind of creepy, but kind of nice. Is there anything you don't know about me?
