Oh yeah, nostalgia is definitely a thing, even in our high-tech media-saturated irony-tinged society -- including non-ironic nostalgia for yesteryear's tech and media.

This little counter-service cafe/shop has a lot of heart - and some darn fine food. They serve their awesome roast pork with crackling, chopped, in a banh mi and it's wonderful. Great noodle plates too. Huge menu, fun selection of Asian soft drinks in the cooler. They fit an impressive selection of groceries/housewares into such a small building.

Huge menu, awesomely fresh seafood, skillful preparation, beautiful harborside view. There can be a wait for a table but well worth it IMO.

Careful shopping here yields some terrific deals. Best for non-perishables, packaged deli/cheeses, eggs, frozen foods, wine and beer; has some great organic items; produce can sometimes be iffy and fresh meat dept. is very small.
