This is a really cool effort by Ricoh.

This is amazing. I don't know if they charged for it but they probably didn't. This is "returning something to the community."

How many companies would do this, I wonder.

Ugh.
Show me a body part, I’ll show you someone who’s making money by telling women that theirs looks wrong.

Ready for another game tomorrow!

This is Brew Crafters, a newly-arrived Kickstarter. Ironically enough, the only opponent I've managed to get to the table is my ten-year-old daughter. I've beaten her twice, but she's getting better at it!

Board Games  -

Well, I got a first game of Brew Crafters under my belt, with my 10-year-old. I can tell that this game is going to be a bear to teach - there are a lot of moving parts that fit together. I have to spend some time now that I have played thinking about the order to explain things in. Shockingly (to me, anyway), our game was pretty close to the "box time" - I think it was about 70 min for the two of us.

I won 40-32, but it was a hard-fought game, and we both made strategy mistakes throughout. I know that I would get my ass handed to me by an experienced player.  We played on a card table, and we definitely needed the whole table surface, but I don't think the additional footprint for additional players would be all that great.

I forgot to take a picture while the game was set up, so you'll have to settle for the picture of the box I took hen it arrived.

Finally arrived yesterday! I've got it all bagged and ready; I just need to find someone to play it with me. :-)

An interesting pair of articles that appeared in my stream yesterday.  Each one is independently interesting, but together, they are even more so.

Could no one see the color blue in ancient times?: http://www.businessinsider.com/what-is-blue-and-how-do-we-see-color-2015-2

Scientist accidentally develops glasses that remove color blindness (for some people): http://www.smithsonianmag.com/innovation/scientist-accidentally-developed-sunglasses-that-could-correct-color-blindness-180954456/

What would it mean to increase the range of colors that a child can see?  Would it work the same way on an adult?
This isn't another story about that dress, or...

+Elizabeth Nugent They probably would not change the results of the experiment on the people with no word for blue:  the response curves of the blue cones and the green cones are very far apart already.  They might improve westerners' performance on the two shades of green.

By the way, in case you're curious, I think this is the graph for the "gerine" function:

Speaking purely from the sidelines with no dog in this fight, this is going to be epic to watch go down.  The title is good enough, but definite bonus points for the phrase "an improbably matriculated Muppet."

OT: Improbably Matriculated Muppets would be a #goodnameforaband.
