Progress, although of course the $10 doesn't see nearly as much use as the $20.
The yet-to-be-named figure will appear on the note in 2020, the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.

This might change if there were more $10 than $20 bills in circulation. So, if they print enough of the new ones…

Progress, of a sort - but when will they consider the ban on atheists?
Robert M. Gates, the group’s president and the former secretary of defense, said the Scouts “must deal with the world as it is, not as we might wish it to be.”

It's time.

Women On 20s aims to compel historic change by convincing President Obama that NOW is the time to put a woman's face on our paper currency. A candidate for the honor was chosen in a historic online poll and you can meet her here.

How about starting by appointing a woman Secretary of the Treasury?

Love it!

"Betsy admits that they were being silly when they took the picture, but the message is serious.

"'You’re a little girl, and you can do anything,' she said. 'Don’t let people get in your way. Go for it. Wear an Elsa dress and play softball.'"

I love this. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

My intention is to fill up your stream with baby animals to break the saturation of negative images and videos. If you + this post, I will choose a baby animal for you.

Board Games  -

I wasn't smart enough to take a picture before we left, but just played a fun game of Five Tribes with my eleven-year-old daughter at Mox Boarding House. We apparently had a very high-scoring game - she lost soundly, but had a higher score than anyone on any of the filled-out score sheets in the box.

It was fun! I'm not buying a copy yet since my birthday is coming up, but it's definitely on my wish list.

Hm, reviewing the rules, it looks like we played wrong on one thing - we refreshed the merchandise and djinni at the end of each turn (if needed), instead of the end of each round.  That probably caused some score inflation, but I doubt that it was much - neither of us was really going for greens very hard.  My daughter did end up with 4 djinni, but I only had one, with a "passive" power (Boaz).  I don't think she bought any two of them in the same turn, so that probably wasn't any different.

It was still fun.  :-)

Pictures of Games  -

First game of Lanterns tonight. It was surprisingly fun for such a simple set of rules!

I won 46-42-42. I suspect there is a noticeable first player advantage. My poor husband suffered from my noticing which favor tile he was about to claim and grabbing it ahead of him more than once. If he's willing to play it again, I'll sit downstream of him and see if it makes a difference.

Hm.  It doesn't feel much like Splendor.  The types of sets you are collecting never change (you score for four of a kind, three pair, or seven different), and of course Splendor doesn't have an analog to the tile placement.  You are racing to get the favor tiles, because their value decreases as the game goes on, so I guess that's sort of like Splendor.  And I guess the limited size lantern piles are sort of like the limited size coin piles.

Isn't the tile layout pretty, though?  I like how lovely the game is.
