I just cancelled my Santa Cruz Gray Bears brown bag deliveries. Every week I have been receiving it free. The idea is very nice. But, for the little I am able to eat, it is not worth it. I usually have to find someone to take...

Halloween Costuming 1977, a Story
Halloween is my favorite holiday. I love to go “all-out for it.  My best friend, Linda knew this about me and took advantage of my enthusiasm by asking me to dress her up and do her make-up for a Halloween party she'd been invited to attend at her husband’s...

In the autumn of 2010 I was in Santa Cruz Petsmart when I saw her among a group of kittens playfully wandering around behind the glass enclosure where adoptable cats were located. She had just run under a small stool. But, he...

Timmy needs no halloween costume. He is spooky enough just as he is! Timmy is an odd eye cat. This is called complete heterochromia.

Story
Introduction
A native of Western NY, the Niagara Frontier, I moved to Southern California after marriage to be with my husband near Vandenburg Air Force Base, where I had two daughters, worked in an Antique store and briefly attended college. With the military there are many opportunities to "Ship Out" so our lives were constantly changing and bringing us into new environments. Eventually I went back home to live near family and shortly thereafter was diagnosed with the bone cancer called chondrosarcoma. After seven recurrences over a number of years I finally made my way back to California where I met and married the father of my son. I went back to college full time focusing on medical studies with many minors. I was so happy to learn that I took as many classes as possible. Over the years I have been able to work part time in a variety of fields. Due to disabilities I was not able to maintain a career. But I love the variety that life has given me. I'm a bumble bee imbibing the nectar of life from all the flowers I can reach.

Though when first diagnosed with the cancer, I was told I had little chance to survive, I have managed to stay around long enough to have children, grand children, and great grand children. If I wait a few more years, perhaps there will be great great great grand children. How cool is that?

So, here's to you cancer.... Nah.. nah nah...nah Nah Nah!

Just the same, I wouldn't be the person I am today without the lessons I have learned along the way. So, thank you, cancer, for making me think.. and feel... and love... and grasp life (and death) with the fullest extent of my being. You gave me permission to discover who I am, to like who I have become and to accept things with a willingness I would not have had before.
