A must see for those in the fashion industry and anyone else who cares at all about the planet we call home.

Screenings of this film are happening now at festivals, with an official US release date of April. Hope to see the film in my area sometime this year.

"The impetus for the film came from a photo McIlvride found online. He and Williams, producer and director of photography, wanted to do a film on rivers. McIlvride found, on Google Images, a photo taken by NASA of China's Pearl River with a dark blue streak of pollution running through it.....Consider that one pair of jeans uses 920 gallons of water and many mills produce without water treatment plants.....The solution the film's producers unveil is two-fold: through brand and mill innovation and consumer education and change. The trend of See Now-Buy Now Fashion is inevitably affecting the production side of things, hopefully for the better!

Fascinating article about the inherent connections between textiles, technology and the developments of both.

"Vogue’s 1939 panel of visionaries included one contrarian. Like his fellow designers, the American artist George Sakier foresaw great new textile technologies. But he also predicted that the woman of the future would be unimpressed. ‘She will take the miracles of science for granted,’ he said. In the World of Tomorrow, the gee-whiz fabrics imagined in 1939 would be no big deal.

He was mostly right."

A very emotional video about how Patagonia is leading the way in Fair Trade Certified clothing. I hope more and more companies will follow!
