New post (To Honor Our Love) has been published on Amor y Sabor (Love + Flavor) http://amorysabor.com/to-honor-our-love/
Two weeks ago we held a wedding to celebrate 6 years together and to honor the love that seemed at first unlikely to succeed. Although I have been married before, I never had a wedding or held any event such as this, one with catered food, fancy clothes, drinks, decorations and a photographer.

New post (Marriage Equality? Not Quite) has been published on Amor y Sabor (Love + Flavor) http://amorysabor.com/marriage-equality-not-quite/
Photo from the article Changing The Conversation On Immigration Reform. This week marked a month before our wedding/renewal of vows and the details are all coming together so it's getting very exciting. This week also saw one of the most historic decisions regarding marriage when the Supreme ...

New post (The Atypical Indian) has been published on Amor y Sabor (Love + Flavor) http://amorysabor.com/the-atypical-indian/
When people find out I am married to an Indian the first question they ask is “Can you cook Indian food?” (yes) followed but lots of questions on “What's it like?” I find these hard to answer because in many ways Karan is an atypical Indian man. Most Americans have a specific view of Indians.

Things these days are filled with work, trips to school, mealtime, errands, and generally trying to hold it all together.

New post (I Won't Be Skinny for my Wedding but I Don't Care) has been published on Amor y Sabor (Love + Flavor) http://amorysabor.com/i-wont-be-skinny-for-my-wedding-but-i-dont-care/
In less than 2 weeks I'll be married. Well, technically, I'm already married but that was just for the visa. When we legally married it was in Santo Domingo at a Justice of the Peace with couple of friends. Our event will mark 6 years from our first date and will be the first real celebration of ...

Creamy and delicious. To blanch the almonds, place raw almonds in boiling water for a few minute and then remove them and place them in ice water for several minutes. The skin will remove eaily.

New post (Nurturing a Free-Spirited Child) has been published on Amor y Sabor (Love + Flavor) http://amorysabor.com/nurturing-a-free-spirited-child/
On this Mother's Day, I reflect on what is in many ways the hardest job in the world: raising a child. This day, Mother's Day, honors that effort, for it is mothers that often have the most impact on a child's future and they unfortunately many times have to do it alone. Next is teachers.

Introduction
I am a creative professional, originally from NYC, who lived in the Dominican Republic for 8 years. I own and operate my own creative services company called Design Intense, working with clients from around the world.

My personal passions extend beyond design to creative expression in all its forms: handicrafts such as knitting, sewing, beading; art such as photography, collage, drawing; dance, gourmet cooking, poetry to name a few.
