Been in the UK roughly 4 months now. Here's how I've found it -

One third of the way through September now. Got a washer/dryer delivered this morning. Grabbed the Beko 1200 Spin Washer Dryer. Been literally months since we’ve done laundry. Luckily I did bring enough clothes with us to get us over that hump (not that…

+Stephen Ward Wilder? I'm basically an old lady. Pretty countrysides and nice quiet little restaurants for me thank you ;). But yes, being here has made me realize why the British often don't leave their own country to vacation - so much to do and see even in such a small (compared to Canada) space!

I love this baby. <3 He's so happy in our new place.

The sun is currently setting on our first full day in our flat. As we suspected, Avery immediately took to the window. Though to be honest, he spent most of his time napping on it rather than looking out it. Interesting use for that pole – headrest! How…

Prepping from the couch/computer chair can be productive, too ;).

While we all know just how important it is to be active and actually get around to doing all the physically laborious preps we have in our head to do, not every moment of the time you spend in front of the computer or sitting on a couch has to be time…

+Thomas Xavier's review of the Cold Steel Hold Out II. Can't believe how much of a Cold Steel fanboy he's turned into.

#coldsteel   #knife   #knives   #gear   #edc

The Cold Steel Hold Out II is what happens when the sick minds over at Cold Steel HQ look at a classic Scottish Sgian Dubh dirk knife and think to themselves, “What happens if we drenched it in tactical sauce and made it folding?” – well, wonder no more.…

What kinds of things would you miss most in a TEOTWAWKI situation?

I only look harmless. Retired public sector
and are off the municipal emergency con-
tact list. Knowing the available resources
allows me to seek that which isn't on-record.
Historical salt springs, for example, or the
natural gas pipes capped because the flow
rate is below standard for exporting. Have
a half century of recreational cave discovery.
Paid associate of private housing having a
basement that Grade-6 cartography found
exceeded 100 miles. With freshwater flow,
produce storage space, residence, and with
sufficient maze and pits to deter hostile entry.
Base camp locations exist 12 hours distant
from the nearest exit to daylight. Some have
landline hand-powered voice contact to the
outside resources. Membership requires a
demonstrated level of expertise and training
isn't provided. "Don't Step Up If You Can't
Keep Up..." Quote: Chronicles Of Riddick

Also, try switching to the old Google+ if you're having problems, and it glitches sometimes so exit and open it again, it often solves the problem +Andi Gleeson

Anyone tried the Cold Steel Finn Wolf before? What did you think of it?

Thomas was obsessively carrying this one for about a year when we were back in Canada. Bet it's the knife he misses the most since our move.

The Cold Steel Finn Wolf has, by a considerable margin, been my most requested knife to review. If you’ve ever checked out this bad boy – this makes perfect sense. I have owned this folder for nearly a year now, and have been mulling what to scribble about it since day one. I’ll start by saying… Read More

Had to restart our collection since we moved to the UK and didn't bring our gear with us this time 'round. These 5 are all we've got right now! Such a change.

As you already know, Thomas and I moved to the UK just last month. Thomas lived in the UK before he moved up to the Great North (Canada!) for me a number of years back (for those wondering, yes he does have a British accent), and so with a little effort,…

Anyone tried the Gerber Gator Machete before? What were your thoughts?

The Gerber Gator Machete has been on my radar for quite a few years now. Not in a “I want to test it” kind of way, but rather, the reviews I’ve read of this tool have been so piss poor that with any sort of common sense, I should really avoid this one.…

I own a couple of these for camping. They work excellent IMO for basic camping needs. And, the price is right.
