Ha, that's funny!

They missed an opportunity to say "Avoid looking for misplaced remote controls." Ah well, v2.0.

Ugh! This is what it has come to. Air Conditioning. Check your male privilege!!! Check your privilege yo!
Science has already told us that women feel more sensitive to cold temperatures, which is why going to movie theater can feel like stepping into a freezer. Working in an office all day can also be torturous if you forget to bring along a sweater. Over at The Washington Post, writer Petula Dvorak theorizes that intensely cold office temperatures are yet another example of the patriarchy dominating an environment. Dvorak researching this by talking...

First, this is upsetting because discrimination does occur for lots of different people around the world and nonsense like this not only obfuscate cases that are real, but endangers credibility. They are actually accomplices against the people they purport to help.

And, considering for evidence in the article is self-referenrial to another blog item on the same site that mostly list anecdotal evidence... and its "scientific" evidence either is a measured temp (unsourced) or some reason for why begging the question... I'm going to say the foundation is crap. When you go to the doctor is there a male vs female temp? No. Is there even a normal temp? No. It's a range. A range dependent on what your body is doing metabolically at the time. There are no recommendations for female vs male temperature by the AMA. And actual body temperature vs perceived temperature is not even related in the way suggested. How do you feel when you have a fever? You want to get under a blanket. You feel cold.

In our office, we have wars over this. And since we were in anecdotal land: the overwhelming number of complaints of too cold were male. What does this show?

Does it show I have a scientific breakthrough confounding the science here? Does it show that in our office women arent outspoken, and aren't complaining? Or does it show, more realisticly, that comfortable temperature is dictated not by gender but by environment; whatever "home" was like for you. You can see in the comments that (also unscientific) there were a lot of women and men that preferred it colder.

I prefer it on the cold side: just like my childhood home. And so does the male coworker who shares my office. What I've told people echo what both the male and female commentators said on that article: it's just easier (and more appropriate) to put clothes on than take them off.

If my shirt comes off, everybody loses. :o)

Using NASA's Kepler Space Telescope, astronomers have discovered the first Earth-size planet orbiting a star in the "habitable zone" -- the range of distance from a star where liquid water might pool on the surface of an orbiting planet.

The first step is always to find out that it's happened more than once, so that is big. Crazy that is being coordinated right next door to my work at Moffett!
