A harp shaped pendant, carved in wax, cast in silver and an inlay made from Padauk wood - about 40mm x 25mm and pleased with my first effort at making an inlay

Very pleased with this little item - a 'right handed' and 'left handed' design with leaves and berries on a twisting stem cast in sterling silver - each 60mm long and 1mm thick - photographed straight from the quenching bucket :-)

A local geological society wanted two pendants made from a lump of granite from a 'special' location.  I 'attacked' the lump of granite with a hammer and off popped two small pieces about 30mm x 25mm x 5mm around which I made a wax frame- and the whole lot cast in situ in sterling silver. Not your usual gemstone pendant :-)

One of a bunch of pendants for an all female Bridge team - cast in sterling silver with inlaid enamel - dimensions scaled as per the standard playing card - 23mm x 15mm.  Some had a red Queen others were filled with black.

A sterling silver ring with a channel cut almost to the edge and filled with hard enamel which is embedded with holographic flakes to give an iridescent, sparkly effect.

Trickier to photograph than make - hand cut and formed sterling silver earrings curved in a double Bezier shape approximately 95mm drop with a sterling silver ear hook.  The Earrings also curve inwards towards the neck.  Highly polished on the outer surface and satin finished on the inside.   These earrings sway smoothly and as with all our jewellery can be customised in every conceivable way.   Also available in gold.

I have struggled for years trying to cut silver and gold tube of various diameters into small lengths as a base for gem settings - I would waste shedloads of material and no matter how hard I try I CANNOT cut straight.  So heres my tube saw jig - 3D printed in ABS with glass plates 0.4mm apart as saw guides.  Inserts govern how long the tube length will be and clamps for various tube sizes make sure that thers is no wobbling.  Now I can happily make parallel sided lengths of tube till the cows come home :-)

A small 'pack' of Borzoi heads 16mm x 13mm(straight from the casting flask) - carved in wax with a 'flowing' mane , then a silicone rubber mould produced from which 4 wax models were created.  Cast in sterling silver for a Borzoi breeder - a necklace and a pair of earrings coming up!

Photographing jewellery has always been a challenge and will probably remain so - but here is my shadow-free lightbox - made from 4 LED panels fixed together with some 3D printed brackets - low power and so much better than the 3 anglepoise lamps with daylight bulbs precariously balanced over some frosted glass :-)

Archaeologists have often pondered how the skilled artisans from antiquity created such beautiful jewellery seemingly without the large volume of trial pieces and how did an apprentice from say Roman times learn their trade.  Now we have the answer.  Recently unearthed from a Roman Road near the Ashdown Forest In East Sussex was this artefact.  Clearly, this has been in the ground for centuries and on close examination it appears to be a metal casting of Mafalda Corta pasta from the Campania region of Italy made by a novice jeweller.  In actual fact of course, I cast this yesterday in silver from some pasta just to see what happens :-)

We make jewellery - silver, gold, palladium, niobium, titanium etc.,  with gemstones, millefiore and resins. And we also make all our own equipment - kilns, CNC machining centres and plasma arc welders.  We love experimenting hence the big box full of 'experimental' bits which, I am sure will be useful - someday.
