In a study published in May 2014 in the journal Biological Psychiatry, a team of U.S. and Danish researchers explored the alcoholism-related role of one specific part of the brain’s opioid receptor system. The practice of huffing inhalants is extremely dangerous. Teens often turn to inhalants because they are cheap and easy to access, and because they are unaware of how risky abusing them can really be. Make sure your kids understand the dangers so they will say no the next time a friend wants to try huffing.
