37 people are speaking at the Block Chain Summit on +Richard Branson's private island "to lay out the framework for a world where humankind is fully benefiting from the amazing technology", and they only included ONE woman. SIDE EYE. Share this and encourage better ratios. #blockchainsummit #genderavenger  +GenderAvenger
Block Chain Summit invites people to "come visit with Sir Richard Branson on his private island for a set of intimate discussions highlighting critical issues and solutions and to lay out the framework for a world where humankind is fully benefiting from the amazing technology behind the Blockchain." With less than 3% women speakers, apparently Block Chain Summit doesn't think women play an important role in laying out a framework tha...

I think I'm feeling old or something. This is ridiculous, I know. It'll pass.
One. There will never be enough time for anything you love. Not to love in all the myriad ways that are possible. Not to get all your work done. Not to live all the lives you can dream for yourself. Time runs on fast feet. Two. There will always be too much time for the hard things. There will be too much time when your broken heart leaves you staring into the night unable to sleep, when you are working 12-hour days to reach a go...

+TIME has landed in +GenderAvenger's Hall of Fame for their 100 Most Influential People list. It's 40% women!
TIME's "The 100 Most Influential People In the World" list is a huge hit with GenderAvengers this year with its 40% female/60% male gender ratio. The list is peppered with such great women as Malala Yousafzai, Anita Sarkeesian, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, but we are biased here at GenderAvenger, and we are most thrilled to see our own Mellody Hobson listed as a Titan. Mellody is the generous founder of our Mello...

Happy reading! This week's Five Star roundup is brought to you by the power in the ability to be your whole self, a joyful man, seeking the balance between the interior and the exterior, the treatment of women and other minorities in literature, the (lack of) experience of one's own body, and Günter Grass.

This is my favourite photo from the Mom 2.0 Summit conference I just got back from yesterday. You can see it in full through the link.

I have a thing for a #JoeFafard sculpture at +Slate Fine Art Gallery. I pretend he talks.
Aidan and I dropped by Slate Fine Art Gallery this afternoon to see our friend Gina and revisit her latest show, Mes Amis — Joe Fafard. I am a huge fan of Fafard's bronze portraits. They're detailed, bright, and charismatic. I half expect them to speak or sigh while I look at them. The one I keep going back to, though, is "Trudeau". I don't have nearly the moola necessary to make him mine, but it's been nice to go stand next to him ...

I seriously loved staying at +Executive Suites by Roseman in Calgary. +Brene Brown, next time you're up that way, you should stay there. So lovely.

I had never stayed at executive suites like this before — I've only used hotels before — and I will definitely be back. It felt like moving into a home away from home with the fully outfitted kitchen, walk-in closet, comfy beds. We shopped for groceries at the fantastic Sunterra Market downstairs, walked to a barbershop and local restaurants, and actually stayed in more than we thought we would because the place was so cozy. Thanks so much the great stay, Roseman! I'm already making plans to come back.

Here's some of what I did over spring break while staying at +Executive Suites by Roseman and why I need to buy new pants.
Over spring break, Aidan and took a trip to Calgary to see family and do very little of anything else. We rarely go away on trips together, except for the occasional weekend in Saskatoon where all of our respective parents live, so this was kind of a big deal.

I ate there for the first time this morning after being told repeatedly that their dim sum was fantastic, and it was no word of a lie. We ate until we couldn't move, it was all delicious, the service was good, and the prices were definitely affordable. I will be going back. A lot.
