I have made a site to raise awareness of the financial difficulties CALF Sanctuary is having at the moment. Unless they find £80,000 by the end of March, Duke Bullock and his pals may need to be rehomed or even worse...

Have a look through the site and consider helping, even if it's just sending a few tweets, which I've made as simple as possible: http://goo.gl/XCiQX4.

Reshares and/or +1's would be much appreciated.
Duke Bullock and his pals at CALF Sanctuary desperately need your help

Who are you wearing?

It seems that real fur is very much back in fashion again. If you think these fur bobble hats are fake, think again. Most of them are topped with the fur of an animal that was tortured in life and suffered horribly in death, often skinned alive.

Think the one you have is fake? Are you sure? Mislabelling of fur is all too common in the UK, and it's often cheaper than fake. So how can you check? There's two simple ways:

1. The fibres of fake fur will be the same width from base to tip, but real fur will taper to a thin point at the end.

2. Look at the base of the fur, where it attaches to the garment. If it's fake, you'll see fabric with the strands woven in, if it's real you'll see skin.

Check every fur trimmed item before you buy it and do not rely on reading the labels. If it's animal fur, don't buy it.

Still don't care because those hats and coats are just "sooooo cute"? Watch this. Watch every second of it and don't you dare look away. You deserve to watch every moment of agony that the animal you're wearing felt when they died for your selfishness.

Remember when organisations used to fight to protect animals?

It seems that those days are long gone.

It's been known for some years that the WWF believe that the Canadian seal hunt is not cruel:

"We support the hunting and consumption of wild animals provided the harvesting does not threaten the long-term survival of wildlife populations. WWF has never opposed a sustainable seal hunt in northern or eastern Canada."

And now Greenpeace have released a similar statement stating that it's ok to hunt seals as long as it's traditional and not commercial, except when it's traditionally commercial, then it's perfectly ok for you and I to buy seal fur:

From 2015:

And his "clarification" 2 days ago:
http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/blog/climate/where-does-greenpeace-stand-seal-hunting-20160122

Moves like this by large organisations are fuelling a resurgence in fur products. If you buy fur, you'll increase the demand for it, and the killing will spiral out of control.

Cruelty is cruelty. There are no grey areas. It is never ok to wear the skin of a dead animal. That animal wanted to live. They do not deserve to be turned into some macabre fashion item. Fur belongs on the beautiful animal that was born with it.
