The egg industry's dirty little secret - the mass killing of millions of "surplus" male chicks soon after birth. The method? Grinding them up alive. Well done Germany for taking a stance on this cruel method of slaughter.

I've just finished watching this. It's the story of Nim, a chimpanzee raised as a human child and taught to communicate using sign language. This seemingly innocent and caring start to life quickly unfolds into tragedy as the increasingly aggressive adolescent is passed from his human family, to a caged facility and even to a medical laboratory. Sensitively narrated by those who were involved with his care, it really holds a mirror up to the darkest side of humanity and our relationship with nature.

The next generation makes their voices heard

This group of year 6 pupils from Devonshire Road Primary School, UK, took this poem to the European Parliament yesterday. They are the youngest to ever be invited, and their poem is smart and poignant. Well done children!!

This is what happens when holograms have more rights than people.
Late last year the Spanish government passed a law that set extreme fines for protesters convening outside of government buildings.

This was, indeed, blooming fantabulous.

Just watched this and absolutely loved it. It's a great, feel-good film with an important message. Go see it!

Boycott Crufts

These inbred, disabled dogs suffer horribly in the name of "beauty". The RSPCA refuse to attend this grotesque event. The BBC stopped airing the show after a 2008 documentary revealed the truth behind the facade, and More 4 should do the same.

You can read more about the suffering in this article, and petition More 4 to stop airing the show here: http://action.peta.org.uk/ea-action/action?ea.client.id=5&ea.campaign.id=26121
After hours of being paraded, posed and prodded by judges, one dog will be declared “Best in Show” at Crufts next week. But make no mistake: there are no “winners” in the appearance-obsessed world of dog breeding and showing.

This marine park allowed its trainers to violently abuse the dolphins in its care, all in the name of "entertainment". Do not visit this, or any other, marine park.
