The atmosphere is elegant and friendly. The insane truffle soup is super tasty. I would order it again in lieu of something new (which is uncharacteristic of me). Loved it.

Definitely tasty but quite dark and expensive, so make it a special night out.

It was late and wanted to try out some more of what the happy hour had to offer: Tenderloin Diablo - the tenderloin was seasoned well and the heat was balanced. The meat was cooked perfectly. Tuna Tartare - not as tasty as last time... something is lacking there Mason Burger - which genius came up with the lobster bisque idea? Order this burger, now! Fried Calamari - the calamari was lightly breaded and cooked with precision. The sauce was definitely a must try, not your ordinary run of the mill sauce. Insane Truffle Soup - this soup won me over again. I can eat this all day long everyday. Oyster Shooters - Vodka and oysters! The shooters were well put together.

It's a steak house. The servers can come off a bit snooty and the food is salty (as usually with high-priced restaurants). The bar is great and highly recommended.

Came here with my wife after picking her up at the train station. The happy hour is spot on. My wife loved the Stella cider on draft. I had the Mason burger, she had the el gaucho burger and we split the calamari. WAY too much food. We were not expecting the portions to be what they were. Look forward to coming back next time she works up north and takes the train home.

This place is awesome. Pricey, but that's how you know it's good quality! So worth it!!!!!!😀

Great atmosphere and service. However, it was over priced for the quality of food and drink.

Wow! Real disappointment! We are regular visitors to El Gaucho Seattle and Aqua, and we've visited Portland once, this was our second evening at Tacoma, left extremely dissatisfied. Were informed upon making resos that we would have to pay for a private room, as they were unable to accommodate us in the main dining room, to which we readily agreed. When we arrived (on time) we were made to wait, even though we were assured there was nothing wrong with the room and that it was ready. Dining room was only about 1/3 full when we sat. Service was slow for every course, waiter only did a check back once. Our meal was interrupted by the sommelier numerous times, though he never checked on how we were doing, nor did he seem to inform our waiter of our needs. This marks the first visit we've had to a store in this chain where our food request (chicken strips) was denied. Waiter said the captain vetoed it, not sure if it was ever presented to the line cooks. Had to leave the room to find a dining room attendant in order to box our extras and ask for a check. A captain came in with the customary fruit and cheese, and the check, but by then we were all dressed and standing waiting to leave. She awkwardly tried to set out dessert plates anyway, clearly not understanding the situation. Dining room was only 1/2 full when we left. To the team's credit, they did not charge us the room fee, not sure if it was to make up for lousy service, or just a symptom of it. In the future, we'll take the extra trip to town, or maybe try Bellevue (we usually do Daniel's Broiler in that neighborhood) for a change. Has to be better than Tacoma.
