This place is amazing! The happy hour is a great deal with awesome weekday hours. If you are tired of going to a standard bar for happy hour then kick it up a notch and try this place! The hamburgers are pretty close to the best I have had in Tacoma. The normal restaurant section is vintage feeling with amazing food. The Chateaubriand around, and one of the only ones you will find. Probably the best values one the menu while being one of the tastiest. This place would easily get a five star for food, drinks, and service quality but over all I just can't give it a 5star rating as I love to have wine with my meal (especially a great steak or lamb) but I always feel ripped off when I know they mark things up $60-$70 like some of the wines they offer there.

The atmosphere is elegant and friendly. The insane truffle soup is super tasty. I would order it again in lieu of something new (which is uncharacteristic of me). Loved it.

Came here with my wife after picking her up at the train station. The happy hour is spot on. My wife loved the Stella cider on draft. I had the Mason burger, she had the el gaucho burger and we split the calamari. WAY too much food. We were not expecting the portions to be what they were. Look forward to coming back next time she works up north and takes the train home.

You will never be disappointed with this pick. Eating here is an event, and is first class all the way. The food is top notch, the atmosphere is warm and cozy, piano player, waiters in a tux, they have it all. Roget always takes great care of us when we dine there and he is as good as it gets when it comes to customer service. The old adage is true here, you get what you pay for, not cheap but the very best never is. I recommend the Chateau Briand for two, prepared tableside and cooked to perfection. If there were 10 stars I would give them that many!

Greatest Tacoma Restaurant of all time. Lets be clear to the folks that don't give this place 5 Stars: We do not live in a perfect world but this place certainly reaches closer to it than any other restaurant with great recipes , service & ambiance each and every single day.

#TBT “Start the magic,” were the three words El Gaucho owner Paul Mackay would say to cue pianist Daniel Davison to play when the restaurant doors were about to open for the night. Live music is integral to El Gaucho’s swanky and ritualistic ambiance. This particular painting illustrates Daniel Davison, the very first musician hired by owner Paul Mackay in 1996. Daniel was also the third employee, coming on board right after Paul himself and Chef Ken Sharp. This painting prominently hangs behind Daniel as he still plays Tuesday - Saturday nights beginning at 6pm. #Gaucho20

Sweeten your summer with this delicious strawberry-rhubarb tart! AQUA by El Gaucho’s pastry chef, Ali Green, created this wonderful dish to finish off your meal – it’s light but bursting in flavor. To top it off, it’s easy to make, too. Bon Appétit! http://ow.ly/mxWW301zul8

#TBT Capturing the essence of the Gaucho, this painting was commissioned to fill a large space in a private dining room at El Gaucho Tacoma. It measures 8’ x 8’. Nic Kassis, who at that time was the General Manager at El Gaucho Seattle, was used as the matador. #Gaucho20

#TBT The Gaucho culture has been celebrated by poets and immortalized on canvases by many great painters. Gauchos would gather together and cook meat over an open flame. This was also a spirited time of singing, dancing, and sharing stories. This mural, done by Nina Mikhailenko, was a combination of old Marlboro ads and National Geographic pictures, plus characters in El Gaucho’s history. Measuring 7’ x 18’, it is four panels and painted specifically for the Wine Cellar, a suggestion from the staff. Many personnel are included in the painting, including Philip Christofides (El Gaucho architect), Howard Lieberman (business advisor to the Mackays), Michael DonRicco (cigar captain), Jon Sheard, Paul Mackay, and others. #Gaucho20

We love anything iconic and are thrilled Zagat listed El Gaucho as one of Seattle's Iconic Restaurants that everyone needs to try! http://ow.ly/PAjL301O3a4
With the rate that the Seattle food scene is growing, it’s easy to only focus on what's hot and new. But we wouldn’t be at the culinary high point that we are today without the iconic restaurants that paved the way. Some of them are quaint, neighborhood joints serving up fresh handmade ...

#TBT El Gaucho opened with a designated cigar room, which quickly became the place to see and be seen in Seattle. On the weekends there would be a red velvet rope reminiscent of Studio 54 with a line waiting to get in. Due to its popularity, a separate Cigar Club was built out for members only, which were those who owned personal humidors. This comissioned painting featured characters include “the regulars”: Frank Isernio, founder of Isernio’s sausage, Cigar Manager/Captain Michael Don Ricco, and Joe Toro, (now retired) a Longshoreman who “ran the docks.” Michael Don Ricco was named “Mr. Hospitality.” #Gaucho20
