Waterfall an Nature Photography

My name is Edward Smathers and I am a passionate fine art photographer who promotes and advocates nature through powerful forms of art and literature.  Edward Smathers Photography and Dig The Falls specifically focuses on waterfalls, but also will be addressing all aspects of nature itself!

If there are any comments or suggestions, please contact me via E-mail and I will be more than happy to read your questions, comments and/or suggestions.

The goal of Edward Smathers Photography and Dig The Falls is to share the beauty that is New York State with the rest of the world. In doing so, I will be including as much description with the photos we share as possible.

We plan to add an extensive list of New York State Waterfalls to our site very soon. This list will include:
-Waterfall name(s)
-Town in which waterfall is located
-County in which waterfall is located
-GPS Coordinates
-Height and accessibility of each waterfall and much more

Right now our list has reached over 1600 different waterfalls (over 600 of which are publicly accessible) and we will be planning to add at least another 500-1000 before the list is completed. Ask how you can help!!

12/19/2013 (Thursday): Received call (12:32) from what I later found out was "Estes". They left a message and wanted to schedule a time for delivery. I called back 6 minutes later and was put on hold by a “frazzled” customer rep for about ten minutes, when the call cut short. I called back and was transferred again to the same person. After stating they only deliver on Thursdays to residential customers I was asked what time on the 26th they could deliver the package. 12/20/2013: Called Estes today to schedule a pick up so I didn’t have to wait until next Thursday. The person on the phone made it difficult to look up my package information and then stated that pick-ups could be made after 2:00pm at their Glenmont facility, which happens to be 50 minutes from my front door. Needless to say, unless you are a commercial entity, this company is not for you. I had no choice in the matter as the firm I was accepting the package from chose to use Estes.

I was ONLY able to visit for about a half hour, but I was able to grab photos that were amazing!! The entrance fee was well in line with a privately held parcel of property housing waterfalls as beautiful as these. I know i would probably charge much more, just for the amazing views from the cat walks lining the gorge! I have seen comments mentioning an "underwhelming" view. I have to say, after visiting well over 200 waterfalls inside of New York State, this was far more spectacular than "underwhelming". The family that owns and runs this property seem to be driven by customer satisfaction, but I can see where that can fall a little short if a couple tour busses show up and barrage the guest center with enough tourist to almost max the fire code "persons standing" limit. Altogether I would say that my visit left me wanting more visits in the future!! I will be returning many times in the future!! PS - I co-authored and was principle photographer for "Waterfalls of New York State"

Ok, admittedly I don't like reviewing a business before using them at least several times for obvious reasons, but I had heard so many good things that I am positive that my consequential experiences will mirror that of my first. The owner is fast to act and very personable. On the surface he seems as if he may be a bit short in conversation, but I assume this is due to the amount of work he has created for himself. He won't push you out the door if you need to ask question though! I had every question answered to my satisfaction and more. The prices are more than reasonable considering the quality of work as well. Be aware, though. Cash or check only. No CC's accepted at this time. They are also only open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8am to 5pm.
