Made an appointment a week in advance to have someone come out for an estimate. Estimate appointment was scheduled for this morning at 9:00 AM, but no one came. When I called the office, a man named Ed said he was in Glenview for the day and there was no way he or any of his workers could make it down today. We have water leaking in the house and were depending on this appointment to have the leak fixed. The man who I spoke to was apologetic, but also quite rude about it. He said, "I'm up in Glenview, there's nothing I can do for you. I'm sorry," and hung up on me.

Hi Heather. I am so sorry to hear about your experience. Our goal is to prove excellent customer service and regretfully, we did not meet it with you. While your location is outside of the area we service, we've made efforts to ensure this never happens again.

Edward worked on two of my apartment buildings on the west side, both 6-flats with flat roofs. Each required replacement of almost entire parapet wall, front porch concrete stairs, minor front elevation repairs, plus a single lintel replacement on one of the buildings. I think I called Ed like 100 times and he always answered or called me back shortly. I was really impressed with how he handled my project and I wouldn’t hesitate to call him again.

It's been a pleasure working for you Joann. Make sure to have the roof area and the parapet wall checked a couple of times a year. It doesn't take much for leaks to develop.

Edmar is the best in the business. I’ve owned buildings in the city for a while now and I’m telling you there’s no one more professional and detailed than these guys. I’ve had them rebuild firewalls, fix decorative stones, repair damaged bricks and I’ve always been 100% satisfied. Most recently I hired them to powerwash and tuckpoint one of my condos and I couldn’t be happier with the results. It actually looks like a brand new building even though it’s over 80 years old. The owner of the company Ed Marciszewski is a really straight forward guy and won’t waste your time. He’s been in the business for a long time and knows everything there is to know about masonry and building repair in the Chicagoland area. I trust Edmar with all my repairs and will definitely continue to use them in the future.

Our condo association hired Edmar Corporation to do some much needed repairs on our building. It came to our attention that there were leaks on the ceilings of the top floor apartments, and we called a number of contractors to come check out the situation. Ed fit us in for an emergency quote the next day. This was a rare find as most of the other contractors we called didn’t even bother getting back to us. After taking a look at our roof, Ed explained to us how serious the job was and how the damage came about. The firewall and the parapet wall were both in really bad shape and needed to be rebuilt. The firewall and parapet wall were both crooked and the bricks were loose. To stop the ceilings from leaking, we needed to have the roofing redone as well. Ed was very thorough with explaining how the repairs were going to be done and after comparing a few more bids, we decided that Edmar Corp was best suited to handle our repair needs. They were able to schedule a start date pretty quickly and were flexible about working on Saturday. The workers were very professional and took great caution about ensuring the safety of the surrounding buildings and set up tarps to prevent debris from getting around. They got the firewall and parapet wall up in a few days, and were even able to match the bricks of the parapet wall to the rest of the building. Ed called and checked in with us every couple days and let us know where they were in the process. Our condo association was very happy with the work and highly recommends Edmar.

I haven’t been so excited in my live, the work is finally done! For the past five days I had a crew of 5 working on my 3 story building in Chicago. I have to admit it was neglected and in a very bad shape since no work has been done on it for decades… it’s probably close to 100 years old. It’s a brick structure, with 3 chimneys that had holes in it and every time it rained my basement was flooding. There are 14 windows with steel beams that needed replacement due to heavy rust, this also involved partial rebuilding of walls above those beams. My last problem was the wall section that sticks above flat roof surface, I think they call it “parapet wall” or something, which has disintegrated almost completely and basically required full rebuilding. I just wanted to say “Thank you” for all the work that was done on my house and recommend Ed (the owner of EDMAR) to everyone looking for a good mason.

Thank you Peter, I appreciate you review. I always tell my clients to maintain their homes on regular basis, this has always been the best way to avoid extensive repairs. In your case the blame can be transferred onto the previous owners. Masonry structures tend to deteriorate much faster in our climate so we need to take care of them more often. Your building is good to go for a while :-).

The problem at hand was a large glass block window at the front of the 2 story bldg. w/a garden apt. Apparently the old lintel of over 75 yrs. was corroded, thus compromising the support of the bricks above it. The cracked glass block window and missing mortar between the bricks were evident of this problem. I contacted several contractors who claim to specialize in this problem with rotting lintels, but only two of them showed up to look at the problem. One was Edmar Corp Masonry the other I refuse to mention because he failed to return several calls I placed to him and because he did not convince me that he knew what the solution to my problem was or how serious it could become, structurally. I made arraignments with Edmar Corp and in one week these guys were out here and even better in 9 hours they were all through with the project. That isn't the best part. What I think was best about the encounter I had with Edmar Corp is that every time I walk by the work they did, I feel confident that the new three iron-lintels they placed over the new smaller glass block window w/a vent, is going to be around for another 75 yrs. That should be long enough. There is more. Did I mention that the brick work was "surgical"? By that I mean clean, level and the color brick they used was very close to the original bricks, which are over a hundred years old. Last of all, his workers cleaned up so well at the end of their work, it was almost hard to notice that any work was done at all. Money well spent. Thank you Ed.

This company and its owner were a pleasure to work with. We needed some masonry repairs on our single family home in Lincoln Park and I called Edmar to give us a quote. Our chimney was in pretty bad shape—missing bricks and apparently a cracked concrete cap. Ed stopped by to check it out and told us that the chimney had to be rebuilt above the roofline. He counted the number of bricks needed, in addition to a new cap and replacement clay tiles. We got a great price and hired Edmar for the job. The crew that came out was very skilled and hardworking. They even tuckpointed a few areas around the house where the mortar was cracked and loose (without an extra charge). After a couple days, we had a brand new chimney and some fresh tuckpointing. I got more than my money’s worth working with Edmar and have recommended them to my neighbors. Thanks Edmar!
