Great, authentic German/Austrian food in a casual gastropub setting. Super-friendly service and a cozy atmosphere. I recommend the Schnitzel.

Mauvais, mauvais, mauvais... Went for a brunch on past Sunday. Food is overpriced, wild mushrooms frittata without mushrooms, bloody mary with atrocious vodka. Service is regular. This place does not have any enchantment. The wolf may have eaten Edi up. Just avoid.

Edi & The Wolf is a bit of a walk to get to, but very well worth the energy. Just entering the restaurant is an experience, with rusted doors, and lots of plants creeping around. Once you're inside, things are very rustic. I know I spent a lot of time looking over all the decor. I tried the Schnitzel Burger, and the Wolf Burger, and enjoyed them both with the House Made Pomme Frites. I'm generally not a fan of brioche buns, but E&tW's worked. I intend on revisiting the location during the warmer seasons.

On Saturday night I enjoyed a lovely, leisurely 3 hour meal with friends. We ordered cocktails (please, get the Austrian Palmer!) first and sipped them with our delicious bread plate (cheese in oil instead of butter!). We then ordered a bottle of Gruner Veltliner wine to drink with our appetizers and main courses. The flatbread was delicious while the trout ceviche was ok. First, the portion for this appetizer was miniscule - we had to divide the one tiny piece of radish three ways! - and, second, the trout skin was a bit tough. Other than that, it had great flavor. For my main course I ordered the spatzle and it did not disappoint! It was creamy due to the cheese, earthy because of the mushrooms, crunchy because of the fried onions, and fresh because of the peas and fresh herbs. I finished with a piece of strawberry rhubard pie (with tarragon ice cream) and rolled home a happy camper.

Edi & The Wolf definitely felt like a hidden gem in the neighborhood where it is nestled away. The Austrian inspired cuisine felt both modern in its composition as well as simple in it's ethnic roots. The atmosphere of this place is very cool as well. It's very rustic while still feeling clean and simple.
