Anyone using Hex Kit for Veins of the Earth maps (or other natural underground environments)? Or is that nonsense talk?

Ball bearings? Does that make sense in the typical fantasy world? Who makes them (how) and why?

What system are you all planning to use with HSI? Are you integrating HSI into a campaign world of your own / published, or just running stand-alone?

I finally got around to ordering my books and can't wait to read them. I was backer #15 on the KS, but forgot to come back and up my pledge to the correct amount, so I'm late in getting my hands on these beauties.

What game should I run for the monthly girls scouts game night the Saturday after this one?

I don't have much time to prep, so I'm looking for something that is either prep-light (e.g. PbtA games) or that I know super well (e.g. D&D). And something that is age-appropriate and is likely to appeal to this age range (12-13?) is important too!

I put the first things that come to mind in the poll, but hit me with your best ideas. Also, if I run DCC, is there a funnel you recommend above the others?

edit: This is a one-off (best case, 2nd session a month later), 4-hour session.

Sharing a gem from my inbox this morning courtesy of the fine folks at Manager Tools.

Invictus
By William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

Who else is in your adventuring party?

...or, if this is the big bad, who are his minions?

#RPGaDay, Day 4: Which RPG have you played the most since August, 2016?

I've run 3-4 session of DCC for my son and his friends and ran 1 session of D&D 5e for the local girl scout troupe. That's clearly NOT ENOUGH! :)

Life's been busy, so tackling first three days of #RPGaDay all at once (also first time doing this).

1. What published RPG do you wish you were playing right now?
A super light version of D&D or Dungeon Crawl Classics. Not playing any RPGs at the moment, so, really just about anything. Also, would love to play in someone's Torchbearer game to get a feel for it.

2. What is an RPG that you would like to see published?
More games that use a deck of cards as the conflict resolution mechanic. I've played some of these games (e.g. Fortunes Fool) and played around with putting one together myself, but continue to be fascinated by the idea of the resolution mechanic having "state" (i.e. past results directly impact probability of future ones).

3. How do you find out about new RPGs?
Google+ and Kickstarter. Sometimes through email newsletters from existing companies.

I asked the kiddo to draw a #crapwizard for +Ray Otus. We all know how this ends. Poor wolf monster.
