"Contrary to what standard textbooks have taught us and what the pundits repeat ad nauseam, consumption is not the big elephant in the room.  The elephant is business expenditures."

fascinating look at #GDP vs. #GO (gross output) vs. #GDE (gross domestic expenditures)

clues to why the business person's gut often registers something different than the reports indicate

It's a seemingly mundane detail - often left to the IT folks or web designer....but selecting the right CMS should be treated as the important decision that it is.

single market/single language content volumes are exploding.  start to overlay a multi-market matrix atop the content management challenge and you quickly realize you need a robust tool.  Open source may not be the best answer.  This is really a strategy decision, not a matter of designer preference.

It's tragic to watch these companies wither.  The alternative opportunities are enormous - but it takes a willingness to embrace reality and to pursue the alternatives rather than just lament the challenges.

Not sure how measuring effectiveness could be on the list of content marketing challenges.  There are a number of great tools to give provide that feedback almost real-time.  In fact it's one of the evolutionary advantages of content based inbound marketing.

our brains are elastic - at least as long as we stretch them and don't allow them to attrophe on 3 line emails and skimming headlines

Why don't business owners manage company strategy for diversification like they do their portfolios?

Business Growth Consultant - Industrial Grade Strategic Advice / Execution Assistance for Mid-Size Manufacturers
Introduction
Ed was going to be an architect because he loved the nexus of engineering and design.  That was before was going to be an engineer; before he graduated from Johns Hopkins; before he was an Army Infantry Officer (Airborne Ranger); before he set B2B industrial sales records; before he was partners with a German capital equipment manufacturer; before he founded a distribution/rep company for industrial products in India; until he decided that managing a business and employees wasn’t what he enjoyed.

Now that he’s got all of that out of his system he runs a consultancy that helps US manufacturing companies grow by applying process excellence to business development – completing the full circle back to an engineering & design combination.
His practice is built on a unique methodology which combines powerful digital marketing methodologies (a HubSpot partner) with his extensive international biz dev experience.
