General Discussion  -

I've been reading (and watching) a lot of the new material that's been produced since the redefining of canon last year. Rebels, novels, comic books, etc.. There wasn't really any G+ Communities dedicated to this topic, so I went ahead and made one. Please feel free to come over and join the conversation.

Keep up with and discuss new Canon material

+Ed Lessard It sounds like we need a community that only highlights the New Star Wars . I know I may start reading the new Novels. I collect all the New Marvel series. Its all great stuff. I'm going to have to know what Ahsoka is doing because I'm a fan of TCWs. Also I think JJ Abrams is not going to let me, personally down. Someone won't like TFAs, but I think Star Wars is in good hands. Good to have a community that is ONLY about new Star Wars. Cause I'm in this to discuss the new story. Be nice to review books and comics that's all part of this now, ONE... whole story.

Well, if nothing else, Lucasfilm/Disney is forcing us to spread our money around to a variety of media from a variety of retailers. Magazines, comics, books, ebooks...

Troubleshooting  -

Can someone explain what the point of the battery usage percentages, as well as the newly added mAh computed usage, really are? Other than maybe a comparison to each other, I'm not sure I see the point since they are so inaccurate.

The percentages don't add to either 100 or the amount discharged. Shouldn't there be an "Other" category with possible culprits?

Also, the mAh aren't even close. This seems like a beta feature, not quite ready for full release. For example, in the picture. Battery at 90%. Percentages add up to 5%. If it's supposed to be percentage of used battery usage where is the rest? Also, if you add up the mAh in each entry, it adds up to under 200mAh, which is not even 6%. I guess I just don't see the point of numbers this far off.

Also, if battery drains so fast when cell signal strength is poor, can't that be monitored and shown here? Is that cellular standby?

I'm not surprised it's hard to calculate, I'm just surprised they have it so front facing, when it doesn't really work right.

Does anyone find the volume keys too easy to push? I've got my phone naked right now, and a case might help, but hear me out.

The phone is very thin, which is awesome, but it makes it sort of hard hard to pick up when flat on a table. You have to grip the sides pretty hard to not drop it.  In addition, they put the buttons on the side down from the top so normal people could reach them, but it puts them right in the middle of where I want to grab. This wouldn't be an issue, except the keys are very easily pushed. Some may see this as a good thing, but it's leading to a lot of accidental volume pressed for me. As I said before, a case may help to have something more to grab, and may add some stiffness to the buttons. Really my only criticism at this point. Great phone!!!

P.S. One additional gripe: for as snappy as this phone is, I get some wicked lag when turning the camera from portrait to landscape or back, sometimes. After a few times, it seems to get faster. Maybe a software tweak can address this.

One Verizon store (I went to a few ;-)) tried to say I needed to conduct a transaction. Total BS. Don't let them say no. They are free. Show them the VZW Website or Twitter posts. Greedy store owner wanting to make a little accessory money. Not on me!!!

Animation Scale

If you have Developer options enabled, there are items listed for Window animation scale, Transition animation scale and Animator duration scale. All of these are set to 1x. There are a variety of larger multipliers, but also a 0.5X. Changing all three to 0.5X makes all transitions very snappy, which I've enjoyed.

That's not new info, but an added side-effect I've found is with Google Now. Ridiculous amounts of white space aside, the speed at which you can clear items from your list is atrocious (particularly if you compare it to the recent apps list). Changing the animation scale seems to advance the next card in place much faster, after dismissing something.

Enjoy and let's hope google can show us more than one card on our 5.7" screens, someday.

Snapseed is one of my favorite image editors as well.
I just wish it had a better color correction function than just the "Warmth" slider, which only allows shift to either cyan or yellow.

I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone speak about the 'hump' on the charger. Seems like they're picking up a design element from the 6P's camera hump. No?

^as an engineering student who has worked in the field, this happens a lot actually. Engineers are great at a lot of things, and proper communication is not foremost among them

So what did people think about the first issue of Star Wars: Chewbacca (2015)? Personally, it felt a little campy and forced. The perspective of the intro text (crawler?) was pretty funny, however.

Being a new comic book reader, for the most part, it does take some getting used to its 'style' of writing and story telling.

We'll have to see where it goes.

Second issue was no improvement. At least they've been able to save some artwork time, copying and pasting the same "Mrrraahhhhh" speech bubble on every frame Chewie is in. :-/
