My G+ is mostly about gaming, usually tabletop RPGs and wargames and making stuff for games, with dips into science news, science fiction, programming, and other geeky interests.

Do you miss HyperCard for gaming projects or other software prototyping?

Warbands Bushido is $7 on Steam and well worth it if you like turn based tactics against other players. You grow your warbands over time, each had a small group of "miniatures" with their own stats for each type, and a deck of cards, some that come with the miniatures, some that you choose from a pool. The pools of cards and miniatures come from unlocking booster packs, which you get so far from play, but I'm guessing you'll be able to pay for more. As you level up, you can start additional warbands and each warband can be made up of more points worth of miniatures and eventually gets bigger in headcount. I have only played the first few levels, where the skirmishes are three on a side. It definitely rewards good tactics.

Played turn 1 of Twilight Struggle with Leila today after dinner. Finally punched my copy to play, having only played once before using Vassal with +Billy Compton. We called it there, since it's a pretty intense game for a person who isn't a serious gamer to absorb. But she's willing to give it another go, and interested in introducing it to a Russian friend. She played pretty well. I scored some points in Asia after drawing score in Europe, but she had Europe pretty solidly shifted to Soviet domination at the end of the turn and would have probably have started scoring big there the next time Europe scored.

Sculptris is a nice 3D modelling program. I'm still a complete noob but I'm getting pretty satisfying results. I'm still bouncing around from one program to another, trying to learn a bit of each and a bit of sculpting, to try and figure out which will work best for me.

Printed this Matilda at half speed. The ringing pattern is still noticeable but much smaller and milder. I won't need to do much filing before painting this one.

Hand painted some insignia tonight. Pretty happy with it. Just needs some re-weathering when fully dry, and then add an antenna. The two blisters of follow on DAK are coming along pretty well, mostly painted Saturday and Sunday.

Set up the North Africa WWII 28mm stuff I've been painting and a couple of the 3D printed vehicles for a trial game of Bolt Action 2. Still reading the rules. It'll be a night raid on the oasis. Will tuck away about half the Germans patrolling in these pics as sleeping in the buildings and vehicles and have a squad's worth offmap as a patrol that will return after a few turns to reinforce the oasis camp.
