What's your stance? Do you avoid the scene of your accident like the plague or revisit it in an attempt to "conquer" it?

Not all of us "had an accident" personally I accept mine fully...I don't wish my life to be different really. Yes...there are times when things are hard that I may regret...but...in the end I always am proud of myself as I am in life.

Have you ever heard disrespectful or ignorant comments about your parenting just because you use a wheelchair? How did you handle it?

"Oh the wheelchair. No matter where we roll, we can’t get away from everything it silently communicates to the world. All of this wouldn’t bother me so much if I wasn’t still trying to achieve full self-acceptance..."

As some of you know all too well, "accessible" doesn't always mean "accessible"...

"The most resilient patients had high levels of confidence in control over one’s own motivation, behavior, and life situation. They also demonstrated a belief that their lives are controlled by their own actions rather than by chance or fate. They also had lower rates of stress, anxiety, and depression than their less resilient peers. Level or completeness of the spinal cord injury did not play a significant role."

How do you feel about the current state of SCI research- exoskeletons, biological cures, electronic stimulation of the spinal cord, etc?

Personally I'm against it. I feel there is a disability community and that disabilities have helped shape our lives and our character. I feel such technology goes against the grain and does more harm than good.
