If you have cancer now or have had cancer in the past, you are at higher risk for complications from the flu. Cancer patients and survivors, and people who live with or care for them, should get a flu shot every year. #flushots   #urgentcare   #eastcountyurgentcare

We recommend planning your meals with 50% vegetables, and use yummy fruits and vegetables for snacks.

To attend child care, children must have immunizations outlined below by age. Parents must present their
child's Immunization Record as proof of immunization.
Now is an ideal time to remind parents that their children are required to receive certain immunizations before starting child care or school.
Kindergartners need the following immunizations before entry:

5 DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough) immunizations
 4 doses of polio
 3 doses of hepatitis B
2 doses of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella); and
 1 dose of varicella (chickenpox).

Do your kids hate getting shots?
You might try taking his or her mind off the experience by bringing a favorite toy or book to the doctor's office. You could also try counting or singing with them to keep them preoccupied. If you have a phone or tablet, listening to favorite music or video may help.
You can also try holding your kid's hand or letting them sit in your lap while the shots are given, but try not to look upset or concerned. Children can pick up on your anxiety, and it can make them anxious as well.
It's a great idea to tell your child afterwards some praise or positive reinforcement. Also planning something fun after the appointment can give them something to look forward to.
Let the doctor or nurse know ahead of time if you or your child is nervous. Medical professionals routinely deal with people who are afraid of shots, and they may be able help your kids relax.
