thanks Brian, and thanks Earth 2 Hub - i managed to get it on my tablet in the end - have already access on the lap-top but it's nice to be able to tune in anywhere! Thanks for your response :-) I love these ideas on how to grow houses - like the 'hoves' I wrote about in 1972, in my story Journey to Blissland - in which a Hove was a cross between a hive and a dome, like a bender but covered in turf and grass, seen from the air as little mounds of earth. I was probably most inspired by the Middle Earth hobbit homes described by J R R Tolkein in 'The Lord of the Rings (which I read first, in 1968) and subsequently 'The Hobbit'. More recently they've been dubbed Wofati - but these are more angular, complete eco-systems with drainage, self perpetuating in energy and water collection and maintaining a healthy dry atmosphere, plus having the possibility of a greenhouse-style growroom.
In the story I wrote the Blisslanders lived in their hoves, pure and simply, but gathered in communal structures and all their growing was done outside, in a subtle, companion planting manner that was less obvious as, based on nature's forestry principle, and permaculture, it was apparently haphasard - but in fact carefully designed, so that species could help, protect, nourish and screen one another, and make use of different cycles of foliage, flowering, and fruiting, in order to best manage the available hours and intensity of sunlight and the temperature and humidity of the seasons. Growing a house is not just a building, or aesthetic architecture, it's holistic integrated architecture, growing a lifestyle!
One thing I would like to do on Flipboard, as I'm new to flipping content from eg Earth 2 Hub or other articles, is to be ableto delete comment or content from my magazines. Due to the new tablet and problems with the text entry setting, I had some duplicated pages and some errors that I wanted to rectify, but I think that was more a case of geting used to the tablet than Flipboard per se.
