Contact lens being developed by Google that may help diabetics manage their disease.

"The lens measures glucose in tears using a wireless chip and miniaturized glucose sensor. While at a very early stage, Google hopes the technology could help people manage diabetes better."

This sounded really silly until the bit about possibly using this for emergencies when other forms of communication are unavailable... But still, kinda neat to send a vodka vapor message.

This is the most amazing body painting. If you have a minute go to the artist's website (linked in the article) and check out his other work. Beautiful!

That's an amazing piece of work! Took me a couple of minutes to figure where all the arms and legs were located and which way they went, it all falls into place. but what an illusion!

In an interesting set of studies, psychologists find that people are more likely to lie for self benefit in the afternoon than in the morning. However, this effect was only found for people who were high moral engagers. People who demonstrated high moral disengagement the week before showed no time effect on honesty.

+E. Zaiser I think it's so interesting to see our ability to control our behavior this way. I'm wondering if this means, in some situations, self-control is not a virtue--that is, we should give in on occasion to our wants.

In today's really random and weird science news, scientists find that dogs prefer to poop when aligned with the North-South magnetic axis compared to an East-West alignment....

Easily excited by science, human behavior, and technology. A hopeless idealist.
Introduction
I am an avid follower of many geek topics including science/psychology research, medical discoveries, stop-motion videos, all things Google and Android, gadgets, gizmos, and most things shiny.  I post about all these things.

I enjoy cooking, baking, the science of food/nutrition, and basically all things food. Also, I like taking pictures. I especially like taking pictures of food, nature, and shiny things. I tend to post most of my food/nutrition stuff to a private food circle, since I know pictures of food isn't everyone's favourite thing to see in their stream. If you want to be in on the food circle, let me know.
