This is why I live downtown.

It's a well-known fact that Atlanta has some of the worst traffic in the nation. And according to a new report released by the Metropolitan Policy

This pic and the doughnut list need to die.

I couldn't help myself. Each time I've seen this meme (and similar) getting passed around, I want to scream.

So now I've screamed.

We've all seen memes of the "design vs. user experience" concept in which a path is cut through the grass right next to a gate or other preferred method of traverse. We're lead to believe that because the "designed" option is so cumbersome, users have come up with their own "user experience" for getting around it.This might provide us with a very important clue as to why user experience is such a nightmare within so much enterprise software. You ...

The Magicband wields access to the park, replacing virtually every transaction you’d make inside. Best get used to this type of thing; in 10-15 years, it'll be common.

Circulating Ideas is a truly great podcast chronicling the current industry shifts the library world is experiencing through first person reporting and interviews. If I had to pick a favorite episode, it would be #58 with Lisa Rabey at +Code4Lib . ( http://tinyurl.com/m634emf )

Like +Henrik de Gyor 's Another DAM Podcast, CI is a place I often turn to for primary sources when I'm writing for industry publications or for the DAM Foundation. Just as Henrik did two years ago, +Steve Thomas is looking for crowd funding in order to publish transcripts of his interviews. Help fund this very worthy effort! Interviews are a great primary source for everyone, and having the audio in an easily readable format helps those of us fond of the ctrl+F function (not to mention ctrl+C and ctrl+V). Chip in and get a high five from Steve! Steve gives great high-fives.
Steve Thomas is raising funds for Recirculated : Circulating Ideas Transcripts on Kickstarter! The Circulating Ideas podcast facilitates conversations about the innovative people & ideas moving libraries through the 21st century.

Ever wonder what it's like to attend an Atlanta DAM meetup? We recorded the March meeting so you can listen in! We discuss the series of articles by +Jeff Lawrence , +David Diamond and Ralph Windsor from DAM news. Enjoy!
As those who follow my work in digital asset management know, I'm a huge booster of the DAM meetup movement. These informal gatherings of digital asset managers to talk in an environment free of vendor sales pitches are crucial to the development not only of personal professional growth, but to the DAM industry as a whole. DAM meetups are where we gather to exchange ideas, hash industry news, and talk about the regional DAM scene. This ...

My guess is that Atlanta would fall somewhere between DC and Dallas on this graph - about $70,000.00.

Of course there's precious little of that middle. We're a city of extremes.
What do families in the middle of the income distribution actually make in cities around the United States?

There are a lot of people in poverty in Miami; the city is pretty good at keeping them out of sight.

Lisa Grimm nails the "What Now, DAM Industry?" discussion. Her answer? Invest in people, not just systems.
Having read and considered the three recent articles on the lack of innovation in the digital asset management space, I can only agree that there are certainly issues with...

Rant up, not down.

"What everyone working anywhere even near to the education system needs to do:

Treat the least privileged among us with the most respect.
Recognize that the job of a teacher is to advocate for students, especially in an educational system currently under direct threat at almost every turn.
Laugh at ourselves and not at those we and our system have made most vulnerable.
Rant up, not down."
