+Anatomy Trains CEC workshop "Anatomy Trains for Movement Professionals" coming up in May!

Emotions are Stored in Your Posture
I find all of this so fascinating. It's the reason why I am hosting a specialist in +Anatomy Trains in to my studio in May (Anatomy Trains was created by Tom Myers the man continually quoted in this +IDEAfitness article shared by +The National Posture Institute).

There is a lot to take away from this article but most significant for me is the studies that have been done that are proving how our past experience and our emotional outlook is stored in our soft tissue; that our fascia or "soft tissue matrix" is affected by our state of mind. It brings to light the importance of the connection of mind and body. And the necessary to work them as a single unit.

Sometimes as a private instructor I find that sessions often become more of a therapy talk session. I have left wondering if I was doing my job and keeping people on track. This article leaves me thinking that I'm doing exactly what I am supposed to be doing. That helping people talk through emotions is actually a link to working through physical limitations. And in fact that is exactly my job!

I love that in my industry there will always be more to learn. My husband is in technology. I will always look at studies on the human body as ever developing technology. We will never know it all.
