Apollo 13 Command Module

Seen at the Kansas Cosmosphere, the Command Module sat unloved and gutted in a French museum prior to acquisition and restoration in the heart of Kansas.

Happy landing on the Moon day!

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of visiting the Kansas Cosmosphere. These Apollo suits are on display along with the actual Apollo 13 Command Module. One of these is a backup and one was flown.

John Brown: Kansas Badass

Just to set the record straight, John Brown wasn't the nicest person in the world. The Border War between Kansas and Missouri was rough. Harper's Fairy was even rougher. He was a sonofabitch, but Kansas was founded as a free state and he is our sonofabitch. I've seen his Beecher's Bible in the Smithsonian http://americanhistory.si.edu/collections/search/object/nmah_440084

This amazing daguerreotype resides in Nelson-Atkins museum in Kansas City. It's part of a collection lovingly acquired and curated by the Hallmark Foundation.

Oops. Stitch recently faced an existential crisis at a Kansas interstate rest stop. I told him to stay away from the tracts left left in the bathroom. Did he listen?

DID HE????

Okay, that was a dumb question. He never listens :)

There's a critical shortage of skilled construction workers in the United States. Maker Faire KC sponsor JE Dunn was accelerating the recruiting curve this weekend by exposing youth to the basics.

Bribery will get you anywhere.

In Power Wheels racing, performance counts and so does flair and bribery. The Lilo and Stitch themed team had ambassadors passing out stickers. They were kind enough to pose with my one of my travel companions :)

Power Wheels, 2017 Edition

I had a blast at the 2017 Kansas City Maker Faire! Attractions come and go, but Power Wheels racing is an entertaining constant.

More images to come. For now, here's the awards ceremony from today. OOC with a Fuji X-T2

Of course the Battery Tour takes requests!
This guy travels the country bringing small street parties powered, literally, by batteries. Donations power the next show.

I've passed through dozens of street parties in the KC Crossroads and have yet to experience one with a bad vibe or people not getting along. There have been a few random homeless people, but everyone just deals.
