So I watched a movie called Blindness last night late after getting home from crunch on SyFy. It was an extraordinarily depressing movie with a surprisingly strong cast. I'd never heard of it, but I guess it came out in 2008.

Never saw it, but it sounded interesting at the time.

The Battle of Five Armies

was.. fantastic! I'm truly sad that there are no further movie rights available from which to produce new material. I have come to love Jackson's version of the world of Tolkien as much as I had the original. And I feel like there's an entirely new movie (or set of movies) telling stories of these characters in the times between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. I want to know what further tales are there for these characters.

But it is a finale, and a grandiose one it is. Go this weekend if you have not already. See it!

I can't wait. It was my favourite part of the book, I hope it will be the best movie.

WoD Launch Day - Revel in the Chaos!

I suspect a number of you may have shared or mentioned this already, but if not, here's mine. I'm hooked up to a VERY new streaming/social site that's in the words - Forge. I downloaded the client, and tried it with WoW tonight for about 2 hours, with mixed results. The stream quality is pretty poor, it cut out quite a bit while I was playing.

But it's still VERY early in beta, and I do see pretty huge potential for this to provide the kind of instant always-on clip sharing that consoles have right now for the PC. If they get the bugs ironed out, I'll definitely use it. It's ad free right now, so there's no telling how they'll monetize it, but we'll see.

If you want to check it out, here's a link to my profile. Please follow me if you do, and I'll follow back for sure.

Does it use the hardware encoders on your video card to capture data, or are you just living with the framerate hit?

Gearing up your freshly boosted 90 - Patch 6.0x
So it's not often I write blogs that are so time sensitive, but this one definitely is. But it occurred to me that I've actually done pretty well (with just a little bit of luck) at getting my freshly boosted mage to a decent gear level in just a very short...

Raids have been so nerfed, it's IMHO the quickest gear up method. Faster than farming frogs, that's for sure (although slightly slower for lesser charms).

Once you have enough to get into Siege of Ogrimmar you will leapfrog (haha) all of that Timeless gear. LFR ilevel 328 set pieces are a LOT better than 335 Timeless burdened gear, with better class-appropriate stats, sockets (red, red, red!) and bonuses.  I have 6 unused burdens, I wish I could trade them, they just sort of accumulated from me doing the dailies.

iLevel isn't everything, at least not with Pandarian gear.

Now that normal mode raiding is so accessible (and easier) through LFG, that gear is even further above Timeless. And normal-mode sets are better than UBRS gear. They look a lot nicer too.

That said, raiding with strangers isn't always kind or fun.

As always, +The Archaeology of Tomb Raider keeping you up to date on what's real and rumor wrt to the next Tomb Raider game. Quite easily one of my most anticipated titles of this year (if it does indeed come out this year) so lots of good info here! :)

Despite being one of the key announcements at last year’s E3, there has been precious little news about The Rise of the Tomb Raider, the highly-anticipated sequel to 2013’s Tomb Raider reboot. Seven months have past since the announcement trailer was released and even though the game is slated for a “Holiday 2015″ release, Crystal Dynamics have remained strangely silent about Lara’s next adventure.

Granted, this may be due to the fact that they’ve had to invest their time and energy in promoting Lara Croft & the Temple of Osiris (the game came out in early December 2014) but Tomb Raider fans are beginning to get jittery about the lack of any real information on Rise and some have even taken to passing off fan art as “exclusive artwork”. The rumour mills are at work…

So what do we know about The Rise of the Tomb Raider so far?

The Updated Hobbit Dwarf Cheat Sheet from LotrProject

A cheat sheet to make it a bit easier to distinguish between the numerous Dwarves in the new Hobbit movie.

I released the first version when the Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was released two years ago but decided to release an updated one now that the final installment in the trilogy is about to be released.

See the high res version: http://lotrproject.com/blog/2014/12/09/the-updated-hobbit-dwarf-cheat-sheet/

I've had this idea kicking around in my head for awhile now, and today I actually had enough time to do something about it. I took all the clips from my XBox One playthrough of Tomb Raider, uploaded them to One Drive, then spent the day massaging them into a music video. Okay not all of them, cause I had over a hundred, but many of them.  Anyway, here are the fruits of that labor. Hope you enjoy. It's my first "GMV", if you will, so be kind. :)
