Evening at the Natchez Trace
Spring is a bit late this year but it really worked out for the dogwoods and redbuds to be in bloom together. Doesn't always happen but this year it did.

Wow, +Catherine Costolo that's very kind of you to say. I think a lot of Eliot Porter's work, a definite influence for me over the years. Many thanks!

So beautiful, you captured the beauty that's out in the deep forest. I've been fortunate to see this and so much more..because of my horse. ..

Blood Root, early Spring ephemeral in the South Cumberland.

Love this quote from George Humphries. Has resonated with me for years... "I photograph wildflowers because they're beautiful and because they speak to me about the possibilities of life. Wildflowers are the promise of spring, symbolizing renewal and hope. They are diverse, delicate, and seductive. I think all of us find their fragrances, multifarious forms and myriad hues pleasing. Contemplation of their beauty elevates us. We focus on things sublime. The experience transcends language. Such experiences are why I pursue nature photography. To experience and record timeless moments that are fleeting is magical. I'm always uplifted by these encounters."

Great times with old and new friends in the Smokies. Love the early greens and yellows of Spring with the stark white dogwoods that pop out of the landscape.

Many thanks +David Pilasky. Yeah this was the view that I thought would be interesting. Not without some adventure getting down there and back...with gear and body in one piece...!

Super excited to be speaking to the Huntsville Photographic Society tomorrow night. The talk is "Composition: Art in the Landscape" and should be a lot of fun. You can find more details here:

Thanks +Jim Lundgren ! One of the best hikes in the area. Really rugged through certain stretches but amazing in the the Spring and Fall especially. I got so caught up in the moment I passed up my usual lunch spot by about a mile!
