The mark of an excellent car service facility is how they resolve customer service issues when they arise. Dunning has always provided excellent service for both our Toyota and Subaru vehicles. At our most recent service, an honest misunderstanding arose with respect to the price of a particular job (a/c service). When I touched based with Woody, the service director, his primary concern was ensuring resolution of the matter in a way that seemed fair and just; a mutually satisfactory resolution was reached. It is unusual these days to find a dealership whose primary concern is long term business relationships and customer satisfaction rather than maximizing profits. If you are looking for an ethical dealer that provides very good service to its customers, I recommend Dunning Toyota (and Subaru).

Was helping my mother purchase her 2nd Tundra. 1st one a 2000 model year Tundra and was totaled in an accident. Beth Bashert was our sales rep and she was fantastic. She asked questions about how the car would be used, what would be important to my mother, etc...Because my mother is a bit older, Beth has promised to help her out if there were any problems with service and support later on. Reading the other reviews on other salespeople, I am extremely happy we got Beth. Would recommend her to anyone.

Dear Eugene, Congratulations on the purchase of your second Tundra! We are sorry to hear that your first got totaled, but glad to hear about your great experience in purchasing a new one! Beth works very hard to build long lasting relationships with her customers. We hope that you love your new Tundra, and look forward to seeing you back here for service! Worst experience I've ever had with buying a vehicle. I called the dealership asking for a 2016 model and they said they had a couple on the lot, I get there and after test driving it I found out they lied and only had 2015 models. Then when I pressed for more information about the 2016 versions they told me they weren't released yet (which they were). So after they convinced us that the 2016 models weren't available, we decided to get the 2015. We had another red flag when we were filling out our credit check, when we went to type the information about the vehicle in, there wasn't a 2015 option for a new car so after convincing us it wasn't a big deal, he had us put in 2016 therefore giving us our monthly payments based off a car that was a year newer. They let us take it home for the night and come back in the morning to finish the paperwork (leaving the trade in there). We get home and realized they illegally kept our title to the trade in vehicle without our permission. They estimated our trade in value $1200 lower than the Kelly blue book trade in value so we decided not to trade it in with them so we were going to pick it up after we did the paperwork. We decided to talk to our credit union before we got there to see if we could get a better APR and when we called the dealership asking them to send the credit union a write up they flipped out on the lady helping us, refused to send the car information out of their anger for us not financing it through them. They even went as far as cussing at the lady, threatening to report her and telling her that they were never doing business with Lake Trust again, all because she was doing her job helping us. When we went back we were so upset with how they treated her that we already decided we weren't ever doing business with people that treat others that way, all we wanted was our vehicle back WITH the title. As soon as we got there, they took us in the back and acted like we were the ones at fault, interrogating us for information on the lady at the bank and even went as far as trying to still get us to buy the car. After I was practically begging for them to just give us our title so we could leave, they finally agreed to get it. When we confronted the sales associate (John Logos) about his various scams he denied ever telling us that the 2016 Prius C's weren't released and called us liars when we brought it up in front of his manager. The salesman was such an ass hole and didn't even hand us the key, he just threw it down on the table and rudely told us where the door was. DO NOT try to buy a car from John Logos, he was extremely rude to us and tried to scam us every way possible.

Dear Kristen, Our goal is to provide exceptional service; we regret not meeting your expectations and take your feedback very seriously. We believe working in good faith with respect, integrity and honesty is vital to our success. Misconduct will not be tolerated and will be handled accordingly but we also trust that our employees have your best interest at heart and we'd like an opportunity to improve your visit by clarifying any misunderstanding or miscommunication that may have occurred. Trade-in tools like KBB give owners an idea of the vehicle's value but the value given by tools like KBB may differ depending on external factors they cannot take into account. We believe we stay true to the market value and are always willing to work with our customers in this regard. I would like to speak to you further about your visit, please contact me at 734-997-7600 or stop by my office. John Taylor VP/GM Dunning Motors

On a tight budget, I was considering purchasing a used and older prius elsewhere and discovered that its entire service record had been at Dunning Toyota - so I called to see if I could get details on the service history and any issues the car had had.... rather than spending a lot of money on an inspection. Speaking with someone I was transferred to and told was the Service Manager, she seemed to understand and was very personable and positive. I explained that if I bought this car I'd most likely be their customer afterwards. She said she'd get 'right back with me'. A day later having not heard back I called again and spoke with the same "Service Manager" only to find as she hadn't yet gotten the information she didn't bother to call but would 'get right back to me' that day this time...... The NEXT day when I called and reminded her that she had again not called back when she had said she would.... she told me she had to reach someone else about the record, hadn't yet, but would be sure to call me back that day... or the other person would for sure. Nothing. When I called in AGAIN having not heard from them, I was told that they wouldn't release the record -- I"d have to come in and pay their inspection fee (the highest of all of the Toyota service places I called). It also turned out she actually wasn't the Service Manager. So I asked to speak to him and very unconcerned, when I described my experience, he insisted he had tried to call me once but my phone was disconnected.... (oh really - news to me) and that they wouldn't release any info unless I came in and paid for an inspection and then, suddenly, it would be possible. Long story short, I take the car in and pay the $120 to do an inspection that costs $50 elsewhere -- in order to get the info from the OLD record that the car had been sold because it needed a new battery to the tune of $3k - and this had never been addressed by putting in a new battery. The dealership instead dumped the car at auction not wanting to invest the 3k in the car. The purchasing new owner selling it had 'replaced several battery cells', not the entire battery. Several calls to other reputable places came back with the recommendation that it was too risky to bet on such a 'fixed' battery, and that it was quite possible I'd soon have to eat the cost of a 3k battery. I completely agree with the reviewer who said ... Gee, if this is the honeymoon experience....... look out! What a bunch of professionals (not). The experience IN the service department going in for the inspection was also very lackluster to say the least. If you can go elsewhere - do. It feels like service at a neglected Walmart. And then, there was the little detail of having to wait an hour and a half in a waiting room with a big screen blasting FOX news non stop and Donald Trump. Has no one mentioned to them that they are in Ann Arbor?? Ck out their Yelp rating. Might be more accurate.

Just bought a new RAV4, 2016 hybrid from Joel Dunning. They're selling fast, so it was hard to find stock with the options we wanted. Joel locked down our exact original request in the next shipment as he searched. It came in quickly and is everything we wanted. Dunning also made sure we got the original offer on the day we walked in with no haggling! And the car? Just got back from an up north vacation. Tenting gear for 4 fit perfectly and we got 35 mpg. This is not your average car. I LOVE it!

Salespeople here are super friendly, up until the moment that you drive away with your car. From then on, they pretend they don't even know you anymore. We bought a used car at Dunning Toyota, and soon after the purchase things started to go wrong. There was a star in the window that we didn't notice, we needed to replace the battery (right after purchase), fix the brakes, and now we have to fix the a/c as well. A bit bummer, feels like Dunning sold us a lemon.

Extreme price gouging and dishonesty! I recently scheduled an appointment with the service department for my Toyota Prius with a suspected bad wheel bearing. After an hour, my service adviser came to tell me that my front right wheel bearing needed to be replaced. I suspected as much so that was not surprising; what WAS surprising was when he told me that my front left wheel bearing also needed to be replaced. I had my front left bearing replaced in November of 2014 at the Toyota in Waterford, and I thought it was odd that it would need to be replaced after only 11,000 miles of use. After telling me what needed to be done he then proceeds to tell me that it will cost me $950 EACH! ....EACH! Are. You. Kidding. Me. That's robbery! I repeated each to him a couple times to see if he misspoke and meant to say that it would be $950 for the whole repair, but he was certain that it was going to be $950 each. I informed him that the Toyota in Waterford had replaced the left bearing for around $540 (you know... the typical cost of a wheel bearing replacement) to which he had no real reply. I called a non-Toyota repair shop to get a quote for the replacement of the two wheel bearings and they said it would be around $900 TOTAL to replace BOTH of them, but I decided to return to the Toyota in Waterford as I wanted to get their take on what had caused the left bearing to fail so quickly. After the Waterford Toyota looked at the car they concluded that the right did indeed need to be replaced (as I has suspected), but they could not find a single thing wrong with the left bearing that Dunning Toyota had tried to say needed to be replaced. My take away from this is: not only did Dunning Toyota see a young woman come into the service department and probably think, "hey, she's a young female, we can take advantage of her and she won't know the difference" but they straight up lied about the left bearing needing to be replaced to get more money out of me. Go to their yelp page if you need more reasons not to visit this dealership.

I just had the best car buying experience that I have ever had. It was at Dunning Toyota/Scion on Jackson Road in Ann Arbor. Neal Kotlarek is a salesman with a heart and soul. He was tireless in helping me get a vehicle that I liked and that I could afford. He was supported in his efforts by the staff at Dunning. I would highly recommend that if you need a car - used or new.....go see Neal and tell him Catie said hello and THANK YOU!
Response from the owner - a month ago

We strive to give the best experience possible to each and every one of our customers. Also, thank you for the kind words about Neal. We are very proud of his hard work and the relationships he builds with his customers. We look forward to doing business with you in the future, and welcome to the Dunning Family!
