I am a bit frustrated with my iPad. I just spent about 30 mins typing a post for G+ and then tried to add a pic from my camera roll. Of course the privacy settings needed to be adjusted, so after about 10 steps I finally got back to my Google + app and my post was gone!
So I am re-typing my post including what just happened as further proof that iOS is not the "easier to use" operating system for mobile devices.
In many posts I have read that iOS is easier to use than Android. This is a misnomer stated by people who have never used and Android device. I have an iPad, a Galaxy Nexus and a Nexus 7. I use both platforms extensively. I have to disagree that iOS is easier.
First, lets say I want to do something easy like turn on my WiFi, Bluetooth or GPS. On my iOS device I have to navigate multiple menus and sub menus until what I wanted done is finished. Then to get back to where I was I have to either double tap my home button and select the app or if I have gestures on swipe to get to back. On my Android all I have to do is swipe down, hit the appropriate toggle and swipe back up. Which sounds easier? I know this is changing in iOS 7 but for the past 5 years it hasn't been easy in iOS.
Second, let's say I get an email that has a fantastic G+ link in it. When I click this link I have several options in iOS. First, it opens in a browser like window in the email app. If I want to open it in another app I only have 3 choices and none of them include the fantastic G+ app I have installed on my iPad. Does this make sense? So if I want to open the link in my G+ app I can't . In Android when I click the link it asks me what app I want to use and then let's me choose if I want to use this app for all links like this in the future or only just this once. If I set the G+ app as the default it will automatically open in G+ every time I click a G+ link. Which sounds easier?
Third, let's assume I want to share a great link I found on the Internet with my favorite social network or my place of employments social network. In iOS I would need to copy the URL, leave my bowser, find and open the app of my choice, compose my post, paste the link and then send. Then I would have to get back into my browser. On my Android all I have to do is hit share, pick the app I want to share it on, compose my post and hit send. After it sends, I am automatically taken back to where I was. Which sounds easier?
I could continue but I think you get my point. I ask you, how is iOS easier?
