2 minutes can seem like a long time for kids. Make brushing fun by playing 2 minutes of their favorite song! Visit the 2min2x website for even more ideas on encouraging kids to brush! http://2min2x.org/

Is you child using too much toothpaste? More isn't always better. Infants only need a smear at most. Children 2-5 should use a pea-sized amount!

What's the best drink for kids teeth? Forget the sodas and sports drinks. Even frequently drinking fruit juice can bathe your child's teeth in sugar. Instead, pick plain tap water! Fluoridated tap water has shown to reduce cavities by as much as 18%-40% in children!

The mother in this article asks, "If my baby has cavities, does that make me a bad mom?" Read this fantastic article on the importance of early dental care: http://wapo.st/1E5y3qR
Our pediatric dentist recommended general anesthesia, but that seemed like an extreme solution.

Thumbsucking is such a natural behavior that ultrasounds often reveal it before birth. But If thumbsucking continues after permanent teeth come in, or there is excessively hard sucking, dental problems can occur. After age 5, or when permanent teeth are starting to erupt, the child should be encouraged to stop using positive methods. If you're concerned, please don't hesitate to ask for an evaluation during your child's next visit to our office.

Keep your toothbrush germ free!
1. Keep it off the counter when you're finished brushing.
2. Store it upright, inside a medicine cabinet if possible.
3. Don't share your toothbrush!
4. Don't use toothbrush covers unless they're specifically antimicrobial.
5. Change out old toothbrushes after being sick.
6. Keep your toothbrush away from the toilet. Flushing distributes particles through the air. Gross!

Plaque is the sticky film that is constantly forming on your teeth. Bacteria live in plaque and create acids that attack your teeth and gums. If not removed by brushing and flossing, plaque hardens to create calculus, also called tartar. Be sure to brush for 2 minutes, twice a day and floss daily!

Dr. Sotto, Dr. Miller, and the entire Team are wonderful. Dr. Sotto has been taking care of our children since their very first cleaning. Recently, our oldest required an extraction of a tooth (semi-emergency). The office staff was kind, and able to accommodate our last minute appointment request. Dr. Miller performed the extraction with the utmost of care and sensitivity. Thank you for taking such great care of our children. -The Funk Family

When your 6-year old asks you when his next dentist visit is, you know you have the right doctor. We've been going to Dr. Sotto for at least 3 years now, and it is always professional and nurturing for me and caring and enjoyable for my son. Luckily, we have not had to have any unpleasant procedures as of yet but so far, the experience has been outstanding. Thank you for all you do for your patients and their parents!

Dr. Sotto and his staff are fantastic. Both of my kids love going to visit and each time we drive by our three year old says, "Mom, when do I get to go back to my dentist?" My oldest daughter had extensive work to correct an issue from hand, foot and mouth disease and still loves to visit. Dr. Sotto is very friendly and explains the procedures simply and sets reasonable expectations of what will happen following each procedure and visit. The hygienists are patient when dealing even with the youngest of patients. I am so glad we are so close to his office but I would drive miles if he moved, the whole office is worth it!

I had the same experience as the previous reviewer. My daughter is 3 years old, I went there two times. At the last check-up, the doctor spent literally 3 seconds to examine my daughter, didn't even say hi to me. My daughter had a tooth that needed to be filled which was pretty noticeable. He said to come back in 1-3 months for treatment, and the next appointment is available only after 4-5 months. She didn't have it at her previous check-up (unless he missed to diagnose it) 6 months ago, I'm sure it will get bigger 4 months later from now. I am finding another dentist. The staff are wonderful, and they lure the kids with goody bags and toys, no wonder kids like them, but I'm going there to receive treatment not goody bags. 2 weeks later - So I went to a different dental office (out of town but famous), Dr was able to fix my child's tooth within an hour on the day of initial visit. Explained what was going on to me for at least 5 minutes. I asked Dr. Sotto's office to send the x-rays to the new office as I did not want to take them again, call them 2 times and the new office called them as well days before visit. They did NOT send it and I had to pay another $42 (out of pocket with insurance applied) for the x-rays. I had my child take it again as I did not want to wait forever at the office for Dr. Sotto's office to email the x-rays, however, it is very annoying when I already paid for them just two weeks ago.

We are sorry that you did not receive the attention from the Dr you would like. We are always available to answer any questions you might have regarding your child. Our dental practice has been blessed with consistent growth through the recommendations of our existing patients. Unfortunately, this has effected the time Dr Sotto has to spend with each individual patient. To allow us to consistently provide the highest level of attention we are excited to welcome Dr Allison Miller to the practice. Dr Miller has begun seeing patients and will join the practice full time this year.

As first time parents, everything is a first for us and our son and Dr. Sotto and his staff are incredible at providing a warm, welcoming and fun environment. My son was actually upset when it was time to leave his office, and to have peace of mind in such an important area of his growth and development is priceless! Thank you!

Dr. Sotto and his staff are some of the best around. The incredible patience and care that they display is why my wife and I take our kids to them. The dentist is typically a horrible experience. They make it more than bearable. Thank you Dr. Sotto and your amazing staff for caring as you do.

My daughter is, unfortunately, one of "those" kids whose teeth continue to deteriorate no matter how careful we are with her hygiene. By the age of 3 she has already had 4 teeth pulled and recently underwent sedation at Dr. Sotto's practice to repair further damage to her molars. Although her experiences with dentistry have understandably made her very fearful, I must commend Dr. Sotto and his staff on this most recent experience. Knowing that dental sedation is risky for children, I was very nervous about the procedure, but we were walked through all the preparation and expectations very carefully. The anaesthesiologist was top-notch - his level of experience clearly evident in how he answered all our questions, taking as much time as we needed even though they were running a little behind schedule. The procedure went totally smoothly and we left with a sleepy little girl who remembers nothing of any of it, for which I could not be happier. We sincerely hope that no more of this type of work will be necessary, of course, but meanwhile I am very happy with the professionalism and courtesy of all the staff, along with Dr. Sotto's skill and efficiency. It made a trying experience far more bearable.

We have worked with Dr Gordon and all of the Doctors at Pediatric Associates of Orlando since we opened our doors in 2008. The literally set the standard for excellence in Central Florida. In fact, I trust Pediatric Associates of Orlando so much that I take my own children there.
