2 minutes can seem like a long time for kids. Make brushing fun by playing 2 minutes of their favorite song! Visit the 2min2x website for even more ideas on encouraging kids to brush! http://2min2x.org/

Is you child using too much toothpaste? More isn't always better. Infants only need a smear at most. Children 2-5 should use a pea-sized amount!

Thumbsucking is such a natural behavior that ultrasounds often reveal it before birth. But If thumbsucking continues after permanent teeth come in, or there is excessively hard sucking, dental problems can occur. After age 5, or when permanent teeth are starting to erupt, the child should be encouraged to stop using positive methods. If you're concerned, please don't hesitate to ask for an evaluation during your child's next visit to our office.

What's the best drink for kids teeth? Forget the sodas and sports drinks. Even frequently drinking fruit juice can bathe your child's teeth in sugar. Instead, pick plain tap water! Fluoridated tap water has shown to reduce cavities by as much as 18%-40% in children!

Keep your toothbrush germ free!
1. Keep it off the counter when you're finished brushing.
2. Store it upright, inside a medicine cabinet if possible.
3. Don't share your toothbrush!
4. Don't use toothbrush covers unless they're specifically antimicrobial.
5. Change out old toothbrushes after being sick.
6. Keep your toothbrush away from the toilet. Flushing distributes particles through the air. Gross!
