Tries a little too hard on the hip front. Bed is comfy. The walls are paper thin and you can party with your neighbors like they are in your room. Until 5am. Not awesome if you want to sleep. Attention to detail lacking when it comes to amenities and housecleaning.

This hotel is a bit crazy at night due to the proximity to Meatpacking and people's desire for a party.. The rooms are lovely and comfortable and if you can get a deal, worth it. Your elevator companions vary from drunken fools to cool collected travelers... I wouldn't make this home base for night life, but for a convenient location and access, I was impressed.

The architecture is a pale imitation of the truly wonderful Maritime next door. Loud. Young. All the worst elements of the Standard without the panache of the high line. They charge you for wifi by the calendar day (particularly unclassy when coming from Europe and trying to save on cellphone bills). Yes... the bed is great. The already tired attempt at "hip" decor is not. Could barely hear the woman who checked me in over the suburban harpies screaming over their drinks in the lobby. Next time I find myself booked out the the Maritime, I will look elsewhere... • • •

It's a beautiful hotel, the atmosphere is just special, with a prefectly executed decoration and a great location. great rooftop bar called the PhD with great view of the ESB, and a nightclub called electric room (eurotrash filled) great place to hang out and grab a drink

Rude staff. Asked for a quiet room, got the first room next to elevators. Asked for a more quiet room and at 3:45pm was told they were sold out for the day and couldn't find a single room quieter. They sent a note which said "sorry" but enjoy the bottle of wine. But it didn't include any wine. They won't get a 2nd chance.

Mainly a dining & nightlife destination, but the trendy, cool vibe extends to the hotel rooms. The room layout is a bit odd, but the beds are super comfortable. Head up to PH-D to party the night away.
