I wandered into the dentist office afraid and alone. As soon as I walked in I heard words I rarely ever hear, "Hello, welcome!" Wow! Someone who really cares! They wanted to make sure I felt comfortable about wandering into their business. "How can we help you?" I mean, sheesh, can you believe it? They ALSO cared about me so much that they wanted to help me, ME, a stranger. And yet here they were, welcoming me and wanting to help me. Amazing. They took some information from me and then after a short wait, they sat me in a chair and irradiated my face to look at my bones. My teeth bones! But fear not! My chest and torso were protected by a metal apron. My brain though, well probably nothing to be done there. I was then taken to a back office where I got to look at a screen with black and white images of the inside of my skull and sit in a chair wrapped in plastic. Sometime later someone came and jabbed my gums with a metal hook and asked me why I was bleeding. I had no answer, but the care they took in asking reassured me that soon my mouth problems would be well taken care of and the bleeding would be stopped. The woman who stabbed my mouth was called a "dent-ist" which confused me since I have no dents, maybe she puts the dents in you. She seemed to really know her stuff though and when she told me that I had to have my teeth bones hacked at, I felt comfortable and safe knowing she would be the one to do it. Unfortunately, this is a business and they quickly told me that I had to pay for the pleasure of having a high speed, squealing metal drill shoved into my mouth by a masked stranger. I couldn't wait and told them to book me the next open time slot! I'd gladly pay for such services, and so will you! Afterwards, I was taken to a large room with other plastic chairs and I was laid down and a sweet, gentle woman began digging into my mouth with a tiny metal sickle and a small vacuum tube. She was very kind and irrigated my gums with a chemical that was loaded into a syringe. All in all a pleasant way to spend an afternoon. 5/5 would go again

The staff at Dr Zak Dental made me feel comfortable every step of the way. I was happy to have their recommendations and they helped me immensely with my competing financial and dental health goals. I was treated very well and felt that the staff was experienced and professional. Thank you to Michelle for following up with me afterwards. Awesome!

Front desk staff very welcoming, courteous and accommodating. Office very clean and professional. All doctors and assistants were knowledgeable, professional and took the time to explain treatment. All procedures were done to my satisfaction. I definitely do not regret switching to this facility from my dentist of many years. I have no hesitation in recommending this facility to anyone.

Thanks very much Barbara for your nice review.

The staff are friendly to patients, and respectful of each other as well. They put a focus on patient comfort. They explained my diagnosis and the costs very clearly, and worked with my insurance, and made the whole process easy. I can particularly recommend Dr Fatahi; she's great.

The dentists work very professional. The office staff is always very friendly. They help me out with the baby a lot, which helps me when I have to sit on the chair and can't do anything about a crying baby. Dr. Rai recently cleaned my teeth, she did such a fantastic job. I will refer the office to all my friends and family. I am so glad I found Dr. Zak dental care. We switched to an HMO plan and I must say they just tread you like you have a PPO plan. It took me over a year to find a HMO dentist I like.

Extractions of Wisdom Teeth
By Dr. Sepi Fatahi
Wisdom teeth may not need to be removed if they are:
* Healthy
* Grown in completely (fully erupted)
* Positioned correctly and biting properly with their opposite teeth
* Able to be cleaned as part of daily hygiene practice
Many times, however, wisdom teeth — the third molars in the very back of your mouth — don’t have room to grow properly and can cause problems. Erupting wisdom teeth can grow at various angles in the jaw, sometimes even horizontally.

WHAT AGE TO EXTRACT WISDOM TEETH
by Dr. H. Kopel
Not extracting wisdom teeth in a timely manner can lead to pain, infection, damage to adjacent teeth and orthodontic crowding of the remaining dentition.
Most wisdom teeth are removed between the ages of 17-25. However, due to accelerated development of many children's dentition and the prevention of orthodontic crowding, extraction of wisdom teeth may be necessary in the early teen years.
There are other factors to consider when deciding when to remove the wisdom teeth. The younger the patient is the softer the bone and the less formed the roots are. Both allow for easier extractions and quicker healing times. Older patients are more likely to experience cracked roots or dry socket complications due to the hardened bone and fully developed roots.
Routine exams will allow monitoring of the wisdom teeth formation and their impact on the whole dentition. Then each patient can be evaluated individually and the correct age to extract will be evident.

BONE GRAFT
by Dr.O. Karnakova
Bone grafting is recommended for patients having third molar or wisdom teeth extractions due to the many benefits and restoration of the extraction site. Generally, bone grafting is recommended for patients over the age of twenty, but is often recommended for younger patients on a case-by-case scenario. Please consult with your oral surgeon if bone grafting may be needed.
Your doctor will usually recommended bone graft after third molar extractions to restore the bone level to its previous form. After the tooth is extracted, synthetic or cadaver bone is packed into the socket and allowed to integrate by osteoconduction. The bone graft will provide support distal to the second molar as well as help prevent any periodontal pockets or bone loss. In some cases, resorption of the alveolar bone or collapsing of the surrounding gum tissue may be a consequence of not placing bone graft, and can lead to drifting or misalignment of the dentition.

WISDOM TEETH
Your mouth goes through many changes in your lifetime. One major dental milestone that usually takes place between the ages of 17 and 21 is the appearance of your third molars. Historically, these teeth have been called wisdom teeth because they come through at a more mature age.
When they come through correctly, healthy wisdom teeth can help you chew. It’s normal to feel a little discomfort when your wisdom teeth appear, but if you have pain, see your dentist immediately.
Wisdom teeth can cause problems if there isn’t enough space for them to surface or they come through in the wrong position. If your dentist says your wisdom teeth are impacted, he or she means they are trapped in your jaw or under your gums.
