30 days raw... day 30! Well, well, well... here I am at day 30 of my raw/living foods & lifestyle clearing. I truly thank those of you who have supported me during this journey with your positive affirmations, questions, and inspirations. It made ALL the difference in my success. ALL.

The past 30 days have been a mix of gifts, lessons, insights, reflections, shifts, and new perspectives. Because I got extremely specific with a 30-day practice, fine-tuned my focus, and simplified one area of my life, I created space for what I had not yet envisioned—big or small to enter my sphere.

In no particular order... thoughts, gifts received, and tips: need more veggie juicing & leafy greens, eating behavior is just (if not more) as important as food choices, started dehydrating (fun), dug into sprouting, blood sugar and digestion improved, energy levels ebbed and flowed, increase in clients and income, integration of 30-days raw into my coaching and new book in the works. A rebranding of my business, deepening into meditation practice and Buddhism, deepening into recovery from compulsive eating, chew, chew, chew until the food is liquid (does wonders for reducing bloating & preventing inflammation). Gratitude works, sleep is critical, processed sugar is a dangerous drug, and moving my body is nature has a particularly healing effect.

I will be moving forward with a high-raw food plan, integrating many of the meals and recipes I have enjoyed over the past 30 days. I will be increasing my consumption of veggie juice and sprouts, while decreasing nut and seed pates that were at times hard to digest.

On Monday, the 25th I will be starting a new 30-day practice. Stay tuned to find out what it is... Much love.

30 days raw... day 26. Lots of folks have been asking about preparation for a raw/living foods lifestyle. Time, cost, tips, "shortcuts," and how to simplify. I will be addressing this in an upcoming book about my 30-day journey. So what happens after you've prepped and the food is actually in your mouth? Your gut and digestive system respond (or react!) to the way you choose to chew your food. Optimally chew your food until it becomes liquid or as close to liquid as possible. This practice is a highly effective way to decrease bloating and inflammation after eating. More time? Yup, you bet... and you're worth it.

30 days raw... day 23. Upon someone's suggestion I am considering writing a short book about my 30-day raw/living foods/lifestyle adventure. As I consider it, I feel the calling deepening which I know is my intuition giving me the green flag. I have jotted down ideas, challenges, and lessons learned that I have found valuable... but what about YOU? Your input would greatly help me. What would you want to know about my 30-day journey? And if not you personally... what do you think others might want to know? Thank you!

30 days raw... day 19. What is our huge preoccupation with food all about? It stems from isolation, advertising, stress, grasping for____, and dis-ease. Those are shadowy aspects for sure and not necessarily true for everyone. I'm sure celebration, family gatherings, and "who knows why" are also part of the mix. I'm curious about folks who are not so overly fascinated, who eat "healthy" and perhaps minimally for the purpose of nutrition and sustenance. Where do YOU fit in?

30 days raw... day 16. The mind is a fascinating gift, isn't it? Teacher and author, Stephen Levine says the mind can be a useful tool but not always a good friend. How many times per day does your mind push you forward into your future or pull you back into your past? It takes practice to stay centered in the present moment. Will I continue eating raw/living foods only after 30 days or will I integrate other foods back into my food plan? It's working so well; why not simply continue? Is my body craving other foods that might be beneficial to my health? Today is day 16, not 31. Today there are no big decisions to make. Today is today only. Today I will practice.

30 days raw... day 12. I started this adventure as a way of "clearing." Not so much getting rid of, but rather pushing aside the veil that obscured connectedness. In this process of simplifying my food intake down to its natural form, as close to its source as possible, I am gaining clarity. I feel myself slowing down from the inside. I notice greater presence to my breath, my psyche, and the people around me. Creativity and abundance are increasing momentum. Today I am a student of nuts n' seeds, fresh veggies from the garden, and sweet fruit from the tree.

30 days raw... day 28. When you make the decision to journey into a "30-day raw/living food & lifestyle clearing," you open yourself to possibilities. While it's likely you have desires and dreams of what this adventure could do for you—reduce unwanted cravings, detoxify, clear up a skin condition, improve digestion, balance weight, get on track with a healthy food plan, or just simply "feel better,"—your successes may come in other areas of your life you have yet to envision. Keep in mind you are "co-directing;" there are nuances and awakenings you have not yet begun to imagine.

30 days raw... day 25. You will always bump into other people's opinions and judgments about what YOU should eat. This could be based on their experience, research, concern, fear, wisdom, activism, knowledge, envy, ethics, or love. It's quite a mix of perspectives from outside sources focusing on YOU and your behaviors. You can say "thank you for sharing," and consult your true mentor—your intuition. In the temple of your body/mind/spirit, your path will appear and you will simply take your next step.

30 days raw... day 21. I embarked on this journey because I felt a calling to simplify my food plan to as natural a state as possible... for 30 days. I had no idea of the gifts, questions, transitions, and decisions that would arise. I didn't know I would be faced with the decision, "What will I be eating when the 30 days are complete?" I have found beauty and spaciousness in taking 30 days to make this decision. We often make decisions quickly... an hour, a day or two... To really let a decision unfold and evolve, change and transform over time with no pressure is a different experience. If you could take 30 days to make a decision about something, what would it be?

30 days raw... day 18. What I am noticing most is my sense of noticing. Whacky I know... Seriously though, I feel a distinct difference in my awareness of my relationship with food and my eating behaviors. The "space" between me and my food cravings has grown wider. I am experiencing a quality of "spaciousness" which opens the door to curiosity, discovery, and perhaps transformation. I am beginning to sense the difference in what my mind craves (habit, false idea of content, addiction etc.) vs. what my body craves (nutrients, satiety, energy etc). Who knew there would be so much education here! :)

30 days raw... day 13. Preparation is quite profound. It often makes the difference between joy and sorrow, calm and stress, healthy and poisonous, celebratory and suffering, self-congruency and outa-whack-off-track. The mind builds up this task of preparation to be boulder-size... incredibly bigger than it actually is. In what areas of your life would greater preparation serve you well? The "key" is always to take Your Unique Next Step. You are Here. Your life is Now. Your dreams are Right Around the Corner.

30 days raw... day 9. It's common knowledge that alcohol, recreational and prescription drugs, and cigarettes are physically and emotionally addicting. As a society we are beginning to "catch on," slowly becoming aware of the other addictive substances that infiltrate our daily food supply. Processed sugars, wheat, gluten-free flours such as rice, potato, corn, and tapioca starch, trans-fats, rancid oils, dieting products, chemicals, preservatives, and additives lead the list of food-like-drugs sitting on the shelves of our grocery stores. It's not YOUR fault. If you have been "injected," pull the needle out now, get support, and find a way to saturate your cells with nutrient-rich foods.
