Comment by a reader on Manasamitra Vatakam:
I had my share of worst with going for benzodiazepines , they gave quick instant reliefs. But actually we are embracing the DEVIL in order to escape from the demon.
lorazepam – Whenever i hear the name…not anxiety :)…. my heart will race at 300 bpm.
My immediate concern was not about anxiety but to quite these DRUG!!!. I Know its not real…a fake world…it will built for your ….esteem, confidence, will power…But the moment you step about from this drug its all Gone…Comes the worst nightmare…side effects. (light flashing in eyes , Feels like head is exploding off , Numbs, Dizziness , || anxiety attack was mild considering these)
The amount i suffered with the drug…Finally in-order to withdraw i had to go a roller coster ride for 2 months Nexito, Feliz, Oresta…etc . After finally escaped…. :)

But discovered a TRUE Medicine..im now out of anxiety..YES OUT OF ANXIETY…No Drug , Therapy etc
Thanks to the great saints, Legacy s called Ayurveda

Reply by Dr Hebbar:
Thanks for sharing your experience. But I suggest readers to consult an Ayurveda doctor directly, rather than self medicating with this (or any other medicine for depression / anxiety).

Q: I have heard that for wrestlers it is preferable to take daily massage with mustard seed oil (brassica nigra) than sesame seed oil. What are your thoughts Dr?
Answer:
Hi, I would recommend sesame oil massage instead of mustard oil. Mustard oil is hot and many not be ideal during summer and in people with Pitta increase. Usually, in wrestlers, there will be slight increase in Vata and Pitta Dosha. So, Sesame oil is ideal.

Q: My doctor prescribed me Lohasavam 30ml 2 times a day. After 3 months , when I checked my Hb level reached 13. So I stopped it and after 20 days i again felt bad. When I checked Hb level it fall down to 7.6. What should I do? Should I take it again or take some other medicine

Q: Your article on the causes of varicose veins and the possible home remedies is a great eye opener. As a person suffering from varicose veins I have some of the symptoms mentioned by you, like ankle swelling at times and eruption of ulcers at times–no major pain as such. It is from irresistible itching that I suffer which leads to scratches and becomes very painful. I am also a diabetic and swallowing tablets to keep diabetics under control. Then I take maintenance dosages for cholesterol and B.P. I would be much obliged if you can suggest some ayurvedic Medicines which can take care of all these or suggest your expert opinion as to how I can cope with these problems effectively. I am constantly using compression socks.
Answer:
For varicose veins with itching, you can use Bala Ashwagandhadi taila (or Manjistadi taila)- 200 ml, mixed with 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder, applied to the affected area, 10 minutes before bath, everyday.

Q: How can I take Bhringraj powder to cure grey hair? One teaspoon empty stomach will do? Apart from taking orally how can we apply this in hair?
Answer:
Hi, you can take a teaspoon with water on empty stomach or after food - for two months time. If you find it too strong, you can reduce the dose to half a teaspoon per day.
You can use Bhringaraj hair oil, in place of your regular hair oil. Available here - http://amzn.to/1I4p5jT
