Dr. David Richardson at the ASCRS Glaucoma Roundtable: SLT Misconceptions ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

At the ASCRS 2018, glaucoma expert Ike K. Ahmed, MD, FRCSC, hosted a roundtable discussion with Nathan M. Radcliffe, MD; Paul I. Singh, MD; Mahmoud A. Khaimi, MD; Mark J. Gallardo, MD; and David Richardson, MD to address the concept of interventional glaucoma – and how SLT fits into this model of proactive glaucoma management.

“The safety profile of SLT is so great, I would argue that it's actually a safer first option than many of the medications. I actually had a younger, athletic patient end up in the emergency room because of his reaction to beta-blockers. I've never had a patient go to the emergency room after SLT. Never.”

- David Richardson, MD

Thank you for sharing your positive experience, Scott! We appreciate your kind words. — San Marino Eye

---------

"Had one cataract operated on about 5 years ago, now had the other cataract operated on in March. Very satisfied with the results.

I am just cautious about surgery though, and lived with corrective glasses until I really couldn't put up with it any longer, just in case something went wrong. But, nothing went wrong, and for distance I see better than 20/20.

Also, the night glare from headlights and streetlights is gone (though people who put HID bulbs in halogen fixtures are still obnoxious). I do notice colors are different than before the surgery; the moon is so white now. A lot of reading fatigue is gone now too. I feel much younger now. I see better now without prescription glasses than I have since my early teens when my eyes changed and I started needing prescription glasses." - Scott Packard

DR. DAVID RICHARDSON at the 33rd Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) Congress

ABiC™ experts Dr. Paul Singh, Dr. David Lubeck and Dr. David Richardson discussed the role of ABiC™ in the MIGS treatment armamentarium, including its adjunctive role with the various MIGS options available. Designed to re-establish the eye’s natural outflow drainage system, ABiC™ accesses, catheterizes, and viscodilates the trabecular meshwork, Schlemm’s canal, and also the distal outflow system, beginning with the collector channels.

Why Choose Canaloplasty Over Traditional Glaucoma Surgery?

Here's one of the many reasons: CANALOPLASTY IS SAFER.

👀 😍 👀 😍

We will be releasing more #BiteSizeInfo on Canaloplasty, Glaucoma and Cataract in the next few days. If you find this helpful, please like and share with your friends or groups.

Learn more about Canaloplasty: http://new-glaucoma-treatments.com/

----------

Transcript:
Canaloplasty simply is a safer surgery and there are multiple studies that look at its safety profile and this can easily be compared with those of trabeculectomy and tubes shunts. For example, it’s very very rare for anyone to lose vision from canaloplasty; it’s not so rare with trabeculectomy. As a matter of fact, with trabeculectomy there’s a lifetime risk of loss of vision from what’s called endophthalmitis. Such a risk does not exist with canaloplasty.

The clarity of vision after cataract surgery greatly depends on the quality of measurements made by the surgeon prior to surgery. Dr. Richardson has invested in the most advanced optical biometer available. 💪 The Argos Swept Source OCT Biometer has won the Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today “Best of 2017” award. 🏆 With this advanced technology both Dr. Richardson and his patients with cataracts can feel secure that they are getting the best eye measurements possible prior to choosing an intraocular lens.

Another 5-star review! Thank you, Michael!

"Let me start by saying that I highly recommend Dr. Richardson. He has an incredibly excellent bedside manner. He is very attentive as well as thorough. Willing to listen to his patients as well as make recommendations for the best means of care possible. The facilities are comfortable and clean. The nurse was cheeky and gave me a sense of calm while checking me before the Dr. arrived. The front office was super nice on the phone and listened well to my responses. Even the magazines were current and interesting. Having a cyst cut out of your eye is not a fun time whatsoever. I only would ever want Dr Richardson to be the one to do it. 10/10 would have Eye sliced again."
