The seasons are changing much sooner than we desire. There are a few more days for us to enjoy the beauty of our Dragonflies and Damselflies. I took this video 3 days ago. Hope you enjoy it.

PRACTICE AND PATIENCE ARE IMPORTANT INGREDIENTS FOR CONTENTMENT

Consistently content people, who succeed in accomplishing their goals, have a different relationship with failure and success. These terms simply represent a judgement we have made. Either extreme in perception does not faze a person seeking to accomplish a goal. Content people, continue to practice the skills they need without expecting a particular outcome. Patience is an important part of their daily practice. This creates a neutrality in the perception of emotions. A successful outcome is desirable, but what other's perceive as a failure is simply another opportunity to learn and perfect their craft. Creating a feeling of joy during the practice is very helpful.
Many people, have very high expectations of themselves and are distraught when they do not achieve their desired outcome. Part of the learning process is that when we lift the constraints on our creative process, the end result is much better than we could ever expect.

Wish all of you are able to maintain a relaxed state of emotional neutrality during your daily activities and chores. Wish this daily practice brings you long-term contentment, peace, and joy.

OUR SENSE OF COMMUNITY

As I watch all the bees buzzing around gathering pollen, I marvel at their sense of community. They truly know how to co-exist in peace, support each other and create the very delicious honey.
It appears that as civilizations have advanced, our sense of loneliness has increased. For decades the norm has been for young adults to leave their family for employment and marriage. For many people integrating into life in a new town can be challenging. Busy work schedules also make it harder to invest more time in socializing. More people are choosing to escape in the virtual world rather than cultivating face-to-face relationships in the real world. However, we cannot thrive without a good support system, and community serves as a good support system.
Community does not have to be a very large group of people. Smaller communities can form in groups with similar interests and shared values. In these types of settings there is a sense of ease in being yourself. This is unlikely to happen in a work setting. Communities can include Meet Up groups, clubs focused on specific themes such as hiking, photography, cooking, and so on. We are more likely to thrive when we are surrounded by supportive people.

Here's wishing you find your own, very special community. May this community bring you peace, acceptance, and the opportunity to savour the sweetness of life.

It is such a pleasure to capture these delightful busy little Hummers in a moment of rest. This one was perched on a branch that was gently swaying with the wind. It spreads it's beautiful wings right around 44 seconds. Total video time is one minute and 19 seconds. Enjoy.

May you find the wonder and joy even in the most mundane work related tasks. Have a great week.

SHARING THE TREASURES WE CANNOT USE

Sharing is a part of generosity. Many of us have big hearts and freely share what we have. Sometimes, we forget how a little extra attention on our part can help maintain the treasure for someone else. I saw this heron catch a fish that was too large for it's consumption. I was very touched by what I was able to record in this 10 second video. After the Heron realized the fish was too large, it very gently lowered the fish back into the water. It did not appear to want to kill the fish just for the sake of killing it. Also, there was no rough handling. This thoughtfulness and consideration is a part of our nature. It seems to be so effortless for birds and animals.

The treasures we have may have brought us a lot of joy. Can we pass them on to someone else so they can experience the joy too? Can we improve at least one situation we encounter during the day for the next random person. I hope that many of you take this challenge because I am an eternal optimist. Being thoughtful and considerate of others improves our sense of happiness. Thank you.

Perfect Conditions.
When the conditions are right interesting things happen and they can only happen if all the conditions are in perfect alignment. While walking on the trails these past two days I noticed these gorgeous ice flowers (also called ice ribbon, and rabbit ice). They are formed when the air is freezing but the ground is not frozen. The sap from the stems of the plants expands during the freezing process creating cracks along the stem. Moisture is released through these cracks which freezes and creates petals and ribbons of ice. You can read more about various ice formations in My Works of Ice by Dr. James R. Carter.
Psychologically too, we can make greater strides during certain time periods. During these periods, conditions in our environment support the manifestation of our desires or goals. Aligning with the rhythms of the earth and our natural environment makes it easier to maintain peace and harmony with our inner and outer world.
December has become a month when most people busy themselves with preparation for the holidays and festivities. In all the hustle and bustle, it is easy to miss the gift this month offers us. This is a perfect time to retreat from the busyness and contemplate our inner world. It is a great time to really take a good look at our life, work, health, and relationships. We can assess what is working or not working well for us. Then it becomes easier to remove the wheat from the chaff. We can leave behind the expectations of others and focus on what creates passion and joy in our lives. We can move into the new year in a way that supports our growth and happiness. Without this period of deep contemplation we don’t really understand fully who we are. How can our dreams become our reality if we are not clear about what we desire. Many people live their lives being what others want them to be, and not exploring who they really are.
I wish that the right conditions are created for you to reveal the true essence of you so that you can actually live your dreams everyday.

Our Salmon Are Back
Their incredible journey back to their spawning grounds never ceases to amaze. With all the obstacles along the way they still make it. I do hope that you can enjoy being out in nature during the next few days and see the salmon. Being in the natural world is so good for our mood and their journey can truly inspire us. Enjoy the gorgeous weather and Fall colors.

A Big Thank you to all my clients who helped train Edgar G to be a therapy dog. He was very skiddish, nervous, yappy, growly, and wanting to lunge at people when he first came to the office. Edgar started working with me July 2016, a few days after he became part of our family. Thanks to your patience and compassion with his issues (and all that shedding hair), Mr. Edgar has blossomed into a fine companion and very snuggly lap dog. This is him getting ready for a full day of work. He loves his job. Rehabilitating a shelter dog is so rewarding. Thanks again. We couldn't have done it without you.

The vagaries of weather.... After an intense hail storm and downpour of rain this glorious rainbow appeared. There is something about the symbolism of rainbows that always brings joy to our hearts and a smile to our lips. The popular symbolism we share is that the troubles of today will surely come to pass.

Here's wishing all of you an amazing week, where you find your troubles melting away effortlessly. I wish that you find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. For me, this treasure is the true essence of your majestic self.

True beauty can be seen in the simple moments of life. Words cannot capture the essence of this Barred Owl as well as a simple portrait can.
