There are hundreds of thousands of people on the autism spectrum in Canada with tremendous skills and unique perspectives that would lend themselves really well to all kinds of meaningful careers. But over 85% of them are either unemployed or underemployed.
Specialisterne Canada is a not-for-profit organization focused on working with businesses big and small, to help them recognize, value and integrate autistic talent into their workforce.
Started in Denmark, by social entrepreneur Thorkil Sonne, Specialisterne now operates in twelve countries around the world.
They are just starting in Canada and are fund raising via the #First100People
My younger brother has just been diagnosed with Asperger's/Autism at the age of 42. Due to his condition growing worse, he hasn't worked in 15+ years and has seen his life shrink & shrink year after year.
With his diagnosis and a program like Specialisterne that recognizes the unique talents & challenges faced by autistic people, I have a teeny-tiny glimmer of hope that my brother might be able to re-build his life.
Any financial help that you could provide would be deeply appreciated. Heck, even a Like or RT would be fantastic.
Thanks in advance
