Nice colors at Maclay Gardens this week.
The azaleas and camellias are past their peak, but there’s still lots to see at Maclay Gardens. The first thing to check out is the Native Plant Arboretum that’s maintained by the Magnolia Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society. Piedmont azaleas, Florida... #florida #gardening #outdoors

There's still a need, sometimes, for a brick and mortar presence, like these makerspaces.

This sounds bad, but let's try the glass-half-full approach; 1) The Librarian of Congress is 85 years young! 2) No awkward surprises from his Twitter account. 3) Collection not burned by the British on his watch.
The Government Accountability Office says the Library of Congress lacks the leadership to remedy its problems.

Everyone knows that too much page weight slows down page loading; what about the cost to the mobile user that has to download all of the parts and pieces that make up your web page? A 2.88MB page will cost someone in the US at least $0.21 to view. If someone knew that when they visit your site they had to pay more money to view a slower loading page, would they look somewhere else?
Cost in USD. This is the cost of the site based on data from the ITU, without any adjustment for purchasing power or relative affordability. Prices were collected from the operator with the largest marketshare in the country, using the least expensive plan with a (minimum) data allowance of 500 ...

Looking forward to trying a pint or two of Blushing Monk at Tallahassee's Growler Country tomorrow!
We plan to re-release Blushing Monk, a decadent Belgian raspberry ale, in March 2015 to mark the twelfth installment in our popular Backstage Series. Blushing Monk was the original Founders Backstage Series beer, released in July 2011; prior to that, it hadn’t been bottled for four years. Like all of Founders’ Backstage Series beers, Blushing...

Story
Tagline
Web and mobile app developer in Tallahassee, Florida.
Introduction
I’m a freelance web and mobile app developer in Tallahassee, Florida, having moved here many years ago to study classical guitar and lute and hang out at a great music library. I began teaching myself web development as an antidote to boredom and despair while taking a Visual Basic class. Back at the turn of the century I worked at a DotCom during their Golden Age and developed an appreciation for working with a passionate and dedicated team, having a foosball table available, Friday beers delivered by a wise and inspiring management team, and the ability to telework. I’ve been the web developer for www.askalibrarian.org, Florida’s virtual reference service, since 2004. By paying someone on Ebay lots of money to wait in line for me I’ve been an iPhone owner since the day after they went on sale in 2007, and have been working on mobile-friendly web development, web app, and mobile app development since then. As there can be no effective web or app development without extensive use of analytics during all phases of the development life-cycle, much of my work involves the use of Google Analytics; once a year or so I teach a webinar on Google Analytics for Libraries.

Fine food, knowledgeable and attentive staff, and a good wine list make dining here a pleasure. The Voirin Jumel Brut Rose champagne is dry and delicious and worth twice the asking price. Try the duck breast and quail.

When you walk in you can tell from the aroma that Brickyard knows how to bake and make sauce. Great pizza and delicious enormous antipasto.
