Hiya!

I'm Doug, an Editor with FictionMagazines.com. I figured you might be interested in a service we are launching. We are opening our magazines to advertising (if you're not interested in paid advertising, stick around for the end of this note for a free surprise).

FictionMagazines.com is the only company that has a magazine in each major genre. We're able to direct advertisements directly to readers who are most likely to purchase your work.

Our prices are less expensive per thousand readers than our main competitor, Penny Publications, which is the company behind Aasimov's and Ellery Queen. While we don't have quite as many subscribers, we offer a competitive price and more direct targeting.

A huge reason most authors don't advertise, besides the perception that it is unnecessary, is that they do not feel confident in doing the graphics work necessary to be able to produce a great looking advertisement that would create sales.

To eliminate that concern, we're implementing an option for you to have us do the design work for you. For a bit more, we'll work with you on the design of your advertisement. Satisfaction of ad design guaranteed or your money back. Ads created by FictionMagazines.com will be yours to keep and re-use wherever and however you'd like.

To help launch this new advertising platform, I'm offering you a one time discount of 50% off all advertising. Use the coupon code ADLAUNCH at checkout to receive the discount.

I really believe that this advertising could do great things for your writing career. Please take a look at this advertising option, and don't hesitate to  let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

P.S. We are always seeking submissions of short fiction for royalty compensation. More info here: http://fictionmagazines.submittable.com

Call for submissions of alternate history / steampunk fiction

Proff Dobbs' Historical Primer of the Extraordinary (aka PRIMER) is an alternate history and historical fiction magazine published by FictionMagazines.com. Alternate history fantasy and science fiction are included. We publish victorian fiction, steampunk, alternate history lines where the Nazis won, stories about growing up in a different era, fiction based around a certain historical event. We want all fiction that makes you wonder: What were things like back then? and What would things be like if those events never happened (or happened differently)?

Please follow the guidelines. No first drafts.

FictionMagazines.com represents the next evolution of short fiction magazines. It is short fiction for the digital age. We hope you see the benefit of publishing with us, and we thank you for your interest.  We ask that you send only one submission of your writing to us at a time. We want your absolute best work. Upon acceptance or declination, you may then submit again (unless directed otherwise).

Rights

We want one month exclusivity for your story, as well as first publishing rights. So when your story runs in one of the magazines, from when the day the issue comes out for one month it cannot be up anywhere else online. After that one month exclusive period, you can republish the story elsewhere to publications that accept previously published work. Previously published work not accepted.

Story Selection

Stories are voted on by a peer committee of volunteer writers and readers known as curators. Editors make the final call using feedback from curators.

Generally, our reading time is about one month, but it can be stretched up to six months if the magazine is highly competitive.

Compensation

Writers who contribute a piece of writing are entitled to a lifetime royalty on individual issues sales. The participating writers for each issue split 50% of individual issue sales revenue. So a month from the day the story is released, until the end of time, our system will track sales of issues your work(s) are in and have an account for you which will pay out automatically as soon as the total amount is $25.

Circulation

The magazines are up for subscription sale through Barnes and Noble and the website. eFiction Magazine alone is available for subscription sale through Amazon. Individual issues are sold everywhere ebooks are sold. eFiction Magazine, the most literary of the bunch, is in the Top 5 Best Rated Arts & Entertainment magazine in the Kindle store.

Please let me know if this is not an allowed post here. Thanks for reading. Send us your best!
