The dotEPUB WordPress Plugin has been updated to support secure pages.

https://wordpress.org/plugins/dotepub/

Minor changes have also been introduced in the dotEPUB bookmarklet, Chrome extension and Safari extension, where secure pages were already supported since last June.

If you are using the dotEPUB bookmarklet and have installed it before June 2014, please update the bookmarklet.

New version of all our solutions

We have introduced some usability improvements in all our solutions: we are now verifying that your browser is correctly configured before downloading secure pages (dotEPUB now shows a warning when it's not).

The conversion engine has not been updated. This update is recommended but not mandatory at this time.

You can update the bookmarklet from

http://dotepub.com

You can update dotEPUB for Chrome to version 1.0.7 from

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/okpfiebkkmjcnodegbbbiellepfhoglm

(It has probably already been automatically updated in your browser: check if you have installed 1.0.7.)

You can update dotEPUB for Safari to version 1.4 from

https://dotepub.com/p/dotepub1.4.safariextz

(unless you have automatic updates activated and it is already up to date)

You can update dotEPUB for Firefox to version 1.0.7 from

https://dotepub.com/p/dotepub1.0.7.xpi

Using dotepub on secure pages with Chrome and Firefox for Windows

When first visiting https://dotepub.com with Chrome you'll get an orange warning page. This is because dotepub does not have a third party certificate (we issued a self-certificate).

If you click on Proceed anyway you'll be able to convert secure pages using dotepub but only during the current session. If you fully close Chrome, you'll need to repeat this procedure again.

To allow dotepub to convert secure pages permanently you need to add dotepub's certificate as a trusted organization root certificate.

To do this you must click on the padlock in the address bar and save the certificate to disk. Then go to Chrome's settings > Show advanced settings > HTTPS/SSL > Manage certificates..., and then select the trusted root certificate tab and import the certifcate you just saved in your disk.

The procedure on Firefox is simpler: when visiting for the first time https://dotepub.com, just add an exception.

Using dotepub on secure pages on a Mac

The easiest way to use dotepub on secure pages on a Mac is to visit https://dotepub.com with Safari. You'll get the following message:

Safari can't verify the identity of the website "dotepub.com".

Click on Show certificate > Trust > When using this certificate, and the change to "Always trust". Click on Continue, and type your Mac login password.

And that's it! That will configure dotepub.com system-wide: you'll be able to convert secure pages from Safari but also from Chrome.

Story

A push-button cloud-based e-book maker
Introduction
dotepub is a push-button cloud-based e-book maker.

dotEPUB is software in the cloud that allows you to convert any webpage into an e-book.

For content consumers (readers), we have developed a bookmarklet (or favlet) for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari or Opera. And, if you are a Google Chrome user, you can install the dotEPUB extension in your browser.

For content producers (editors, authors), we offer a widget. For more customizable results, developers can use our API.

Download webpages to any epub-compatible devicee-readers, tablets, smartphones, netbooks, desktop computers...

Save now and immersively read later (even offline) those long and deep articles you didn't have time to read while browsing.

Build a personal library of your favorite blog posts, news articles, etc.

Finally, infinite content for your e-reader... with a single click!

And, because it is software in the cloud, you benefit from the improvements of future releases without having to re-install anything.
