Sometimes too much change just wears an audience out. Change for the sake of change reflects the boredom of the creator, not the audience.

The Weekly Q&A Segment
This is the first of a new segment suggested by a reader named Shannon. She sent me a picture of the shoes below asking for help on what to wear them with.  Above is my first suggestion for her. She wears a lot of black and only pants and jeans, no dresses ...

Dorothy, I had to try on a lot of pairs to get the right fit. Chico's So Lifting straight leg style and ankle-length styles fit the best for me. You may have to set aside a few hours at the mall and just try them all on until you find your special pair. If you have thicker calves you may find that a flared leg is just the style for you.

Sometimes we feel caught between a rock and hard place when our parents need our help. How has caring for an aging parent impacted your life and what have you learned?
Caring for an aging parent is a time consuming and often demanding part of life for many. Help! I fell trapped caring for my aging mother!

+Sylvia Resnick Unresolved issues and family dynamics commonly impact the way we handle the cargiving years on both sides of the equation. Time and time again I've watched love prevail. It's not always easy, but if we are struggling and uncomfortable we have an opportunity to move forward in our understanding of ourselves and relationships in general. I believe we all long to love, maybe even more than we long to be loved. Clearing the debris that stands in the way of love is worth the effort, and to do so sometimes we need to complain. Sometimes complaining is just an excuse for not changing.

A loved one who refuses to eat can be very stressful and cause for concern. Know when to take action.
My elderly mother won't eat, what do I do? Many have asked themselves the same question over and over again. Here are some tips to help you get mom eating

Science is learning so much about our brains and the varying influences on mood disorders. I have great hope for things to come!
A recent study from the University of Georgia shows differences in brain structure according to how trusting people are of others.

Nora, havefaith in YOU. That is where it starts. give it a try for an hour or a day. Tape a note on your bathroom mirror that states something hopeful even if it is a small thing. Keep focusing on that statement, don't force it, just focus for a moment and move on. Your brain will do the rest. Honest.

Are you looking for the perfect relationship?

Perfect means different things to each of us so first one has to have a definition of perfect. A romantic person, a good dancer, wealthy, kind, thoughtful these are all qualities plus more that people want. Let's first define perfect for the individual seeking the perfect marriage/relationship.

Community living is becoming popular among seniors. Have you or anyone you known considered this option for #aginginplace?
NORCs -- or naturally occurring retirement communities -- older adults can stay in their homes rather than move.

It's spring and I'm itching to take to the road! If you're an RVer or looking for an inexpensive place to stay with activities you might want to check this out. They have a special offer going on now. They also have communities for seniors and families - you can choose and pets are welcome! I haven't visited but I'm thinking of giving it a try. Let me know if you have!

Are the men in your life taking part in caregiving?
Men as caregivers, male caregivers are stepping up to the plate. Caregiving has historically been the woman's domain. Even as recent as 10 years ago.

I love the beach. Who doesn't? Who in their right mind anyway *smile*.  I am so ready to get out into the wide open sunshine, and to pay a visit to my friend, the sea. I know there are some who don...

Introduction
I am most visible as an advocate for women over fifty. I enjoy my day job as a small business and marketing coach for this very creative demographic. I am newly inspired everyday by their commitment to making the world a better place to live. I do what I can to help them see their gifts more clearly and offer support and direction as they bring their dreams to fruition one step at a time.

I could not breathe if I could not write. In recent years I write most often about the trials and tribulations, joys and celebrations of being a woman over fifty in the 21st century. I also enjoy escaping into fiction and poetry when time allows.
