This is one of the best places I've eaten in Cherokee County. Great food, great service and staff, televisions on every wall to watch the games, and some of the best Guinness you can get! Try the fish n chips!!!! Hope this place stays around for a very very long time. Woodstock needs a good bar with delicious food. And TRIVIA on Tuesdays is so much fun!

We just moved into the neighborhood a couple weeks ago, and have already been here several times. The food is really good...haven't had anything yet that wasn't delicious. The loaded Irish Flag Soup is great on a cold night, and goes great with a pint of Guinness. Only a couple of issues: 1) the wait staff are all obviously friends, which is nice...but they tend to spend a little too much time grouped together in a corner hanging out, which makes it hard to get their attention sometimes. But they are all friendly and helpful when you do get their attention, so it's not that big a deal. 2) There is a weird smell to the place....not sure where it comes from. It's not foul or anything, and you get used to it, but it's definitely noticeable right when you walk in. Overall, friendly atmosphere, really good food, and a laid back bar scene where you can have a beer and catch the game...fun neighborhood spot.

I always enjoy great food, and fun service every time I visit. We visit on average once a month to mix up the Mexican/Chinese/BBQ routine. We usually start off with the pretzel appetizer. Then I like to get the Shepard's Pie or the Irish Boxty for my main entree. I recommend all three. If you want a fun environment with Authentic Irish food then this is your place!

Thank you for your review and recommendations, Andrew! Also, thank you for your loyalty! I'm thrilled to see you enjoy the pretzel app, the Shepard's pie, and the Irish boxty - all great choices! Thank you again for everything, and we look forward to seeing you here again soon! Best, James Donovan (Owner)

Heard about this place through "Groupons," and I thought I would take my spouse there for an Irish meal. We were promptly seated upon our arrival. We ordered some hot wings and they were excellent. The main entrée (salmon) was bad. I felt it was bad because I received such a small portion of fish. I don't know if I will visit this place again.

Donovan's is what Towne Lake needed! This establishment has gained stability and recognition as a great Towne Lake restaurant. "A local." A place where you walk in and you are greeted with a handshake! The staff know your face after one visit and they treat you like family. The menu is always evolving and the recipes are delicious.

My fiance and I just moved to Woodstock and had no idea where to go out to eat or drink. We came across Donovans on google and tried it out! We have gone three times so far and LOVE going! The food we got was great and they have a great beer list, and it definitely gives a feeling of home. Its refreshing to come here! It seems like this area and the surrounding areas are drowning in chain restaurants, chain bars, and just a feeling of over commercialization. So going to Donovans and having a few drinks and great food is a breath of fresh air.

I typically like the food, but they've changed the cobbler recipe and it is HORRIBLE. Most people ordering cobbler (which are the only desserts on the menu except for a dry bread pudding) expect something with the consistency of pie. Perhaps a pie-type filling and then a crust on top. This is NOT what Donovan's brings out to you now. We ordered the seasonal cherry cobbler because cherry is my favorite kind of pie. It came out as three small, dry sponge cakes with bright red, chewy MARASCHINO cherries baked into the bottom. I would say maybe 5-6 cherries between the three cakes total. 1.) In what world is this a cobbler? 2.) Maraschino cherries should never be used in a dessert like that. It's like they literally got them out of the bar area and threw them into the cake pan. Needless to say, it was gross and I will not be trying a cobbler there again. They've lost a long-time customer of their cobblers.

The cobbler was changed back to the original recipe within weeks of the change. Sorry for inconvenience!! Jim Donovan

Took the family for Mother's Day based on a recommendation. Food is average, service is horrific. Waiter rarely came by the table, our food arrived after 45 minutes after ordering, and we still had no silverware, we waited and waited politely while the food was getting cold - finally we had to get up and go find the silverware ourselves!!! Ruined Mother Day for us as the steaks arrived raw, uncooked, slightly browned on the outside. We had ordered medium. Un-edible, our waiter never apologize. I will never recommend this establishment to anyone!
