Hacking BIOS Chips Isn't Just for the NSA http://ow.ly/KBmMW
Getty ImagesThe ability to hack the BIOS chip at the heart of every computer is no longer reserved for the NSA and other three-letter agencies. Millions of machines contain basic BIOS vulnerabilities that let anyone with moderately sophisticated hacking skills compromise and control a system surreptitiously, according to two researchers. How much is security worth to you? Would you buy this $95 4GB flash drive? #storage #datasecurity http://ow.ly/IriQR
Tiny capacious flash drives not only make it easy to carry gigs and gigs of data wherever you go, they also makes it easy to lose gigs and gigs of data. So if you've had more flash drives go MIA than you prefer to remember, Toshiba will now let you password protect those lost files with a built-in PIN pad so you don't have to worry about your data falling into the wrong hands.

Should I Use a DIY PC for My NAS or Buy an Enclosure? http://ow.ly/2TA7Xk
Dear Lifehacker, I'm thinking about building a NAS (Network-Attached Storage) for storage and backups, but I don't know if I should build a computer or use an old one I have kicking around, or if I should buy a special enclosure like a Drobo or Synology for the job. What do you suggest?

This 1TB SSD Is Adorably Tiny  http://ow.ly/2TevGO
A terabyte in your pocket? There are a few options out there, even an absurdly expensive USB drive. But none of them are quite as slick as Samsung's newest portable SSD. And while its tiny little body tops out at 1TB for now, there are bigger sizes coming down the line.

Donor Drives saved me nearly $1000 by simply swapping my failed PCB for a new one. Data recovery wasn't necessary. I recommend trying this if your hard drive won't power up. Mine didn't click, it was just having a power problem and I'm happy the swap worked. $60 is an absolute bargain and the whole process took only a short time.

Had two hard drives go down. Got 2 nearly exact matching boards from Donor Drives very quickly. One solved the problem, one didn't, but recovered all my data from the fixed one for $60. Thanks. Would definitely buy from Donor Drives again.
