I've been coming here for over a decade. Service is almost always good, and the food is consistently excellent. They've set the bar high. Every time I try a new place, I end up saying: "Damn! I could have spent the same amount of money at J Gilbert's." The setting is not exactly scenic (strip mall city!) but I won't order a steak anywhere else. I'm a vegetarian at heart, but J Gilbert's is where I break rank. Everything - bread, salad, potatoes - has flavor. (Hey, Kansas City restaurants, why is flavor Kryptonite to you?)

Went for lunch. Service was OK, but the food was bland. Tiny portions. Overpriced. My first time, but I won't be back.
