I'm a bit of a lurker in this Community. Just want to say that everyone here is welcoming and helpful. I often show this Community to people when I teach them about G+.

Important work here on how lies go viral faster than truth. I met Craig Silverman recently and heard him speak. He's one to watch. http://www.pbs.org/mediashift/2015/02/how-lies-spread-faster-than-truth-a-study-of-viral-content/
The following is an excerpt from Craig Silverman's new report, Lies, Damn Lies and Viral Content: How News Websites Spread (and Debunk) Online Rumors, Unverified Claims and Misinformation. Click here to download the full report.

Craig's a smart guy. I wonder if the network doesn't self-correct, though. Lies spread quickly, but so do corrections.

An important collection of articles about privacy from Science magazine. Access is free until Feb. 5 http://www.sciencemag.org/site/special/privacy/  This is a topic that comes up frequently with my students at the University of Toronto.
Can you find all the information we've hidden in our cover and inside the issue? Search for an encrypted URL and decode it to find a key to the data! As we shed more and more data, and more of it is collected and aggregated, new dilemmas arise. Read the full introduction to the 30 January ...

I had to use http://www.sciencemag.org/content/347/6221/492.full to access the privacy issue. But then I discovered I had an issue with the proxy I was using. Both links work.

Paul posted the same article and I made some extensive comments there. I think the major difference is that iTunes is a great search engine for audio, as YouTube is for Video.

YouTube is the #2 search engine in the world, if counted by itself.. (bigger than Bing). Yet there is no Google product that allows you to search for audio.

Google even has a problem understanding when you are searching trying to learn something about Podcasts (e.g., technology, software, etc.) or if you are searching FOR a podcast.
